Your Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers. Follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Provide support to the Senior Project Manager during tendering phase of all projects.
  • Assemble accurate, timely and well organized estimates and new project setup documents, including bids, construction management, design builds, cost estimates and control budgets.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate tender process and maintain a good relationship with clients, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, end users and suppliers.
  • Create and issue quotes/proposal submission documents.
  • Review bid requirements for projects, prepare and attend site walkthroughs and project site meetings, review and confirm geotechnical conditions, draft risk matrix and prepare takeoffs.
  • Assist in creating preliminary budget for all successful tender projects, and change order pricing.
  • Assist with the overall management of mechanical contracting projects from preconstruction phase until completion.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum of 5 years experience estimating tunneling or water/sewer infrastructure projects
  • A Postsecondary degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a Journeyman Trade Certification in combination with experience in a related field is an asset.
  • Experience and highly skilled in negotating
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by the DOT Operations Director and clients Legal Department.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, MS Project and Adobe. Estimating proficiency preferred using HCSS Estimating Software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in reading plans and specifications
