GreenFirst is looking for a Steam Plant Supervisor to provide effective services related to Effluent, Yard and Steam Departments.

Responsibilities :
• Provide effective services related to Steam, Effluent, and Yard Departments
• Supervise the day to day operational activities to maintain the department KPIs.
• Hold the operators accountable towards operating tasks & deficiencies.
• Ensure department compliance with GreenFirst's Principles and Guidelines and applicable legislation including the TSSA's Operating Engineers Act and the ASME codes
• Supports the Steam Plant Superintendent and assumes that role during their absence
• Ensure daily production of reliable & sufficient utilities to the site.
• Approve and maintain the weekly schedule to ensure proper coverage with properly trained and qualified personnel.
• Issue written daily instructions to operators and assistant operators with respect to housekeeping and maintaining KPls.
• Monitors all aspects of daily operation.
• Reports on why KPI are less than target at the daily steam/effluent meeting.
• Reports on lost production and implements or recommends corrective actions.
• Maintains feed water chemical inventories at appropriate levels to ensure stable operations.
• Provides input in the preparation of departmental capital spending plans and annual departmental budget when required.
• Maintains Quality Management System and Environmental Management System and ensure standards are met in the department.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental legislation and take corrective action as required in the department.
• Promote and provide a safe work place and ensure corrective action is taken as required.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of a health and safety program.
• Ensure all employees in the department demonstrate maximum effectiveness in their respective roles.
• Ensure full compliance with the Collective Agreement and foster sound union/management/employee relations.
• Keep up to date with new technology and management methods.
• Advise and / or recommend changes or opportunities outside of direct area of accountability that will contribute to optimizing the short and long-term site objectives to colleagues.
• Identify opportunities or risks related to manufacturing costs or processes and work effectively with colleagues to take appropriate action.
• Coordinates and sets maintenance priorities by initiating work orders and issuing weekly priority list
Requirements :
• A valid 2nd Class (TSSA) Operating Engineers License or above
• 5-10 years in an industrial environment
• Previous Supervisory Experience in a unionized environment
• Leadership, Interpersonal and communication skills
• Bilingual English & French is an asset.
