Job descriptionThe Gardens of Wasaga Beach Retirement Residence is looking for a
Food Service Manager to join our team.
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Food Service Manager is accountable for the total operation of the Dietary Department, including management, purchasing, operational planning and menu planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers food services according to legislation and to meet the needs of the Resident
- Manages schedules and oversees the work of cooks and kitchen aides. Works in collaboration with the General Manager on team management.
- In collaboration with the health care team, may interview residents to assess their dietary needs, restrictions and likes and dislikes.
- Creates a five (5) week menu that provides variety and meets the Canada Food Guide.
- Orders and receives food according to the community's preferred supplier and prescribed budget.
- Cooks home cooked meals
- Ensures that standards of sanitation are met.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of recognized course in Culinary Management or with 3 years experience or equivalent
- Experience with working with the elderly
- Minimum 3 years or related experience in retirement home, hospital or hotel setting in volume food preparation
- Previous supervisory capability and experience
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and proficiency with computers and online ordering
- Highly organized and able to work independently
