SUMMARY

The position researches and analyzes policy issues or portions of policy development projects relating to the regulation of mortgage services and other financial services, as applicable.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads the delivery of projects for the review and analysis of policy initiatives.
  • Conducts research and recommends and/or develops policies, regulatory instruments and procedures that set out expectations and standards for mortgage services providers, and for other financial service professionals.
  • Develops and maintains project charters and project management tools and uses them to track and report on progress to colleagues and executives
  • Develops and maintains documentation to support decisions and recommendations.
  • Participates in longterm policy projects and research initiatives, independently or under the guidance of senior policy analysts or the policy unit manager.
  • Participates in joint policy initiatives with peer Canadian regulators.
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of processes to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responds to inquiries from colleagues, government officials, industry representatives and the general public on policy proposals and existing policies, including explanation of technical details on complex issues
  • Contributes to the team's development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures and tools).
  • Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.
  • Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in public administration, business administration, law, or economics and some experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of British Columbia's regulatory framework for mortgage services and/or other financial services.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with knowledge related to policy analysis or issues management affecting mortgage broker and/or other financial services licensing and regulation, corporate structures, industry practices, products and services.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, logically, and with awareness and to manage sensitive issues.
