Job Purpose and Impact


The Packaged Truck Operations Lead will oversee the transportation operations activities for multiple business units in North America in the packaged truck mode (dry van/flatbed/LTL).

In this role, you will lead, advise and make decisions on all major logistics and transportation activities for a team that covers packaged truck shipment execution, client interaction, business and people partnerships and resourcing.

Key Accountabilities


Lead performance across various aspects of internal and external customer and carrier interactions to include cost, safety requirements and problem resolution.

Collaborate with other transportation and logistics functions and business units to effectively control service and costs to optimize transportation asset management, meet strategic goals and seasonal business requirements.

Monitor key performance indicators and in process metrics, recommend and implement improvements related to transportation shipment execution.
Collaborate with businesses to understand customer and product specific requirements and develop and implement solutions to meet those needs.
Partner with the corporate transportation and logistics sourcing team to assist in contract and rate negotiations and bid implementations.
Develop and maintain vendor relationships with transportation service providers, carriers and brokers.
Ensure compliance with all company, government and regulatory agency transportation related requirements.
Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma/Certificate or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Analytical skills and ability to understand business practices
Ability to handle multiple priorities and achieve results within determined timeframes
Minimum of four years of related work experience
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in either United States or Canada Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of lean principles and practices
Two years of supervisory experience
Experience with customer and vendor relationship management and negotiation
Experience and familiarity with transportation equipment and service providers
Working knowledge of SAP transportation module TM 9.3
