Duties:


  • Provides leadership and guidance to the Human Resources Employee Services and Wellness Unit to support the successful execution of the Service's strategic goals.
  • Manages assigned staff; assesses staffing needs, plans and approves staff development and conducts performance management.
  • Provides advanced expertise and applies a balanced approach to mitigate risks on various human resources matters.
  • Ensures that the annual cyclical human resources activities and initiatives are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the management of Workers' Compensation claims, short and long-term absences and workplace accommodations.
  • Ensures compliance with collective agreements and manages labour relations issues and grievances. Liaises with the Executive Officers' Association, Saskatoon Police Association and C.U.P.E. Local No. 59 regarding contractual issues.
  • Provides direction on human resources programming, practices, policies and personnel matters.
  • Works with the Director of Human Resources to establish unit goals and priorities that align with the strategic goals of the Service.
  • Maintains and builds strong relationships with the executive team, senior leaders, unions and associations to deliver integrated human resources solutions.
  • Responsible to lead various committees such as the Employee Engagement Committee and the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Represents the Service on the Employee Family Assistance Program Committee.
  • Designs, implements and gathers human resources related organizational surveys and provides the results to the executive team and Board of Police Commissioners where applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Degree in Commerce or Business Administration, specializing in Human Resources.
  • Six to eight years' related experience in employment, labour relations, disability management, performance management and employee wellness.
  • Thorough knowledge of provincial legislation related to occupational health and safety, worker's compensation, human rights, disability management and the employer's duty to accommodate.
  • Experience in a police environment would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, planning and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, senior administration, unions and associations.
  • Ability to lead, build and support effective work teams.
  • Ability to pass the Saskatoon Police Service security clearance process.

Salary:
$105,740.88-$124,245.36 per year
