Group Leader Regulatory Affairs Mississauga, ON/Calgary, AB

_Where the Chemistry Happens _


This role leads the Canadian Regulatory organization, a diverse and high performing group of Regulatory Product and Stewardship Managers and Specialists responsible for the development and implementation of regulatory strategies and activities to achieve and maintain Canadian registrations for new and existing products.

This position will manage complex issues, monitor Canadian and international regulatory trends and serve on industry/ expert committees to advocate for balanced and practical regulatory policies.

Serves as key leadership point of contact with PMRA (Pest Management Regulatory Agency, part of Health Canada.

You Will _


  • Ensure regulatory alignment with BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada strategic goals and provide leadership on technical and submission strategies and stewardship approaches.
  • Reviews and evaluates trends/ changes in regulatory requirements and incorporates outlook into clear and effective strategic plans.
  • Synthesizes complex scientific and regulatory information to direct approaches to address significant regulatory challenges.
  • Build and maintain a diverse, highperformance team, providing guidance on regulatory and stewardship strategies and aligning with internal stakeholders.
  • Represent regulatory views in the Molecule Teams for longterm planning and Canada Issues Management Team.
  • As part of the NA Regulatory leadership team, drive decisions that meet business goals.
  • Drive regulatory policy in industry and stakeholder forums including CropLife Canada and in grower group and NGO interactions.
  • Serve as lead representative and maintain strategic relationships with PMRA.

Qualifications

What We Look for in You _


  • Minimum of a BS in agricultural or related scientific discipline with over 15 years' experience in the agricultural and/or noncrop chemical industry. MS/PhD preferred.
  • R&D and/or Regulatory leadership with proven success in leading high performing teams.
  • Knowledge and experience with Canadian PMRA or CFIA registration processes and regulations.
  • Experience with stewardship activities and approaches.
  • Ability to lead on regulatory technical and policy issues with government authorities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to multiple levels and audiences.
  • Technical understanding of regulatory science areas.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information to drive effective regulatory decisions.
