Further afield, Parsons has recently designed and been involved in the construction of the new Des Allumettes Bridge in Pembroke, the Hwy 401 Expansion in the GTA, the Regina Bypass in Saskatchewan, the Turcot Interchange and Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge in Montreal, the Kicking Horse Canyon widening in Golden BC, and the Edmonton Light Rail Transit expansion in Alberta.

Our students participate in a wide range of projects and can expect to gain experience in bridge inspection, design, and analysis, and construction inspection.


Parsons' Ottawa office is hiring for a Bridge/Structural Engineering Intern to support our expanding business.

In addition to local and regional projects, the Ottawa office is frequently collaborating with teams around the country and around North America.

Parsons engineers must be versatile, enthusiastic, team-oriented, and have exceptional communication and analytical skills.

As a Bridge/Structural Engineering Intern, you will:

  • Assist on a wide variety of small to large bridge rehabilitation and new design projects from concept through construction utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge under the supervision of our design engineers.
  • Be part of a team performing inspections of existing bridges and other structures.
  • Help support the preparation of detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, detailed technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
  • Assist with providing technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions and site inspections.


In this role you can expect to work in the office as part of a team and remotely as required.


What we are looking for:

  • A positive "cando" and proactive attitude
  • Enrolled in a Civil/Structural Engineering Program, specializing in structural engineering
  • Previous Coop/Internship experience is a plus
  • Excellent academic record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal, problemsolving, and collaborative skills
  • Literate in MS Office and 3D structural design/analysis software
