Description
Logistics Coordinator (LC) will coordinate and tackle freight functions at TORLYS.

These include selection of the most effective method of movement of materials into TORLYS facilities, trade shows, and returns to suppliers, customers within Canada, US and overseas, and handling of freight claims, audit of freight billing, spot quotes, customs drawback, and container tracking.

LC is passionate about transportation and logistics, a team player, proactive and creative, with a sense of urgency, and executes the assigned tasks without failure in timely manner.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Engage, collaborate, liaise with internal stakeholders in the Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product Development and Operations teams.
  • Engage, collaborate, liaise, and negotiate with external stakeholders including freight forwarders, freight carriers, custom brokers, CP|CN and 3PL providers, with an emphasis on FTL, LTL, road and intermodal/rail, CA to CA, CA to US, US to CA, and US to US shipments.
  • Coordinate the freight movement for inbound, outbound, reverse logistics, trade shows and customs.
  • Track shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, uptodate information can be provided regarding any shipment, and update the transportation system.
  • Accurately respond to customer requests to book shipments while providing the best possible solution within a timely manner ensuring that company targets are obtained.
  • Negotiate spot quotes for various modes of transportation and logistics solutions.
  • Responsible for the freight administration activity these include claims, approval of freight bills, spot quotes, ad hoc freight lane analysis, and other freight analytics.
  • Monitor, review and discuss the operational service levels with freight carriers.
  • Prepare the duty drawback files for Canada Customs.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 57 years previous experience in freight with a focus on FTL and LTL road and intermodal/rail required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Operations Management will be an asset.
  • CIFFA Certification in International Freight Forwarding, Professional Certification in SCMP will be preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics Navision will be an asset.
