    We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative Senior Policy Planner to join our Planning team The Senior Policy Planner will support the Town's Official Plan Review project which will plan for growth and development to 2051.     Committed to the guiding values of the Town of Innisfil's Strategic Plan 2030, you will take a 'Future Ready' approach to the immediate and long-range proactive planning in the areas of growth management, Official Plan review, comprehensive zoning by-law updates, secondary plans, community planning permit system, development standards, trails, public transportation, and community improvement plans.

    The Senior Policy Planner is responsible for a broad range of planning functions related to the jurisdiction and legislative requirements of the Planning Area, including taking a leadership role to implement place making throughout the Town, as well as:

  • Conducting research and analysis and writing reports related to such matters as population, socio-economic, demographic, and statistical data to assist in the formulation of long-range plans and policies that help achieve place making and ensure compliance with Town and County Official Plans, the Provincial Policy Statement and the Provincial Growth plan.
  • Providing expert knowledge and leadership on place making and both immediate and long-range planning and policy matters; providing guidance and leadership thorough the implementation of place making and the evaluation and administration of policy planning and development applications including the preparation of reports to Council and Senior Management.
  • Playing a key role in assessing, reporting, and advising the Town of changes in applicable planning policies and legislation.
  • Proactively identifying planning capital projects and initiatives that implement the Town's Strategic Plan; effectively implement the delivery of projects by actively participating in the Town's purchasing processes.
  • Job Requirements

    The preferred candidate holds:

  • A University Degree in Urban and Regional Planning
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in planning or a related work environment, preferably in a municipal setting, with direct experience in policy planning.
  • Full member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute or provisional member in the process of obtaining full membership.
  • A valid Class "G" driver's license and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
  • Availability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required including evening meetings or other events.
