What do you offer?


The Child Care Director is responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Child Care with the overall operations of the YMCA child care centre, providing quality experiences for children that focus on the Y's core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

The Director gives leadership and supervision to YMCA staff and volunteers and is accountable for the overall operation of the Child Care Centre, ensuring adherence to the mission, vision and values of the Y, ensuring adherence to curriculum standards and legislative requirements, and preparing and monitoring budgets.

This is a contract from March 11, 2024 to May 5, 2025.


Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Working with, leading, and evaluating staff and volunteers.
  • Orienting, training, mentoring, and supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Maintaining active and effective communication and information networks within the centre.
  • Ensuring program plans and centre environments address each child's identified needs, stage of development, and interests.
  • Maintaining all administrative and financial systems of the centre, ensuring required reports are accurate and complete to deadlines as established.
  • Maintaining children's records and staff personnel files.
  • Ensuring that parent/teacher interviews are conducted as needed.
  • Ensuring the regular implementation of program quality evaluation tools.
  • Ensuring that payroll, vacation, and illness reports are submitted in accordance to the required timeline.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

Education

  • ECE diploma or CECE recognized equivalency
  • Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario

Language

  • Fluent in English
  • Bilingualism an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with children
  • Previous experience with diverse populations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Knowledge of budgeting and accounting programs an asset
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to move around frequently, including bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
