    Position Overview


    This assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.


    In this role, you will:

    • Assist with the design and drafting of the different standards for overhead and underground lines
    • Perform multiple site visits to better understand the Transmission and Distribution system when making changes to the construction standards
    • Provide technical support and work with the Operations team
    • Research technical information on new utility products and practices
    • Network with other utilities

    What it takes:

    • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with an Electrical focus
    • Third or Fourth year required
    • Enrolled in a Co op program
    • Valid driver's license and current abstract
    Other Qualifications

    • A passion for the energy industry and the utility world
    • A knack for public speaking
    • You get your points and messages across with ease and respect so you can work harmoniously with a variety of people
    • Know the ins and outs of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Competence with VBA and/or other scripting language
    • Experience using AutoCAD

    What you need to know:
    This is an 8 month co-op term starting in September 2024
