The Role:

An analytical and resourceful individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.

This individual must be agile in the way they think and be able to pivot and be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and dig in to find solutions.

The financial analyst role is key in two significant areas.

First in providing reliable, timely and accurate financial information to assist management in the process of strategic decision making to deliver the business requirements.

Second to assist in the internal control assessment process across the Canadian organization. Both are key to grow the business and sustain our competitive advantage with moms and consumers.


What you'll do:


Financial Planning/Reporting/Analysis

  • End to end finance support for commercial departments in executing, planning and managing operating expenses. Including developing tools and advising on best practices for managing spend.
  • Responsible for projections, forecasts and variance analysis related to all operating, compensation and benefit related expenses.
  • Responsible for preparing reports and analysis to assist management in the decisionmaking process.
  • Assisting with the monthend close process and the reporting of results to Corporate, including review/analyze general ledger accounts related to revenues and expenses and performing account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
  • Responsible monthly balance sheet reports and working capital projections.
    Business Controls for your area of responsibility
  • Ensure that internal control issues are anticipated, and audit infractions are avoided by performing continuous reviews throughout the year of related balance sheet account
  • Where necessary create and update control documentation.
  • Reviews any deficiencies identified and develops/implements remedial plans as required.
  • Assist as required with all Audit Reviews (internal/external/yearend)

Ad Hoc Projects

  • Support business needs throughout the organization by pulling together ad hoc reports and analysis

How Do You Know If You're A Fit?:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or similar business certification.
  • Preference to individuals completed or enrolled in an accounting designation program (i.e. CPA) or MBA.

Experience

  • Minimum of 35 years' experience in relevant Finance/Accounting position
  • Experience working in a professional business environment and effectively developing and implementing new processes and assessing internal controls Excellent computer skills
    Competencies
  • Have previously demonstrated ability to be agile and taking on a variety of tasks and seeking solutions to new problems
  • Independent, selfstarter, teamfocused professional who will embrace an entrepreneurial and strong ownership culture and quickly integrate as part of the team.
  • Accounting knowledge (journal entries, account reconciliations, & analysis) with excellent attention to detail, solid analytical ability and comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex and highvolume data sets.
  • Knowledge interpreting, following and creating finance/accounting policies, procedures and working papers.
  • Is regarded by others as an exceptional interpersonal communicator and has been effective at coordinating cross functional resources and activities across an organization.
  • Working knowledge of business and internal controls standards and processes at a public company
  • Knowledge of key computer software packages (example: SAP) and is proficient in pulling data from these packages for use in relevant analysis. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
