Position Purpose:


Reporting to the Manager, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the student experience specialist creates an outstanding student experience by providing guidance and advice for the completion of the Undergraduate Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program offered in French in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine.

They plan, implement and evaluate various student retention, success and development initiatives to support students in their academic success and ensure the quality of the university experience.


Dans ce rôle, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes:

Advisory & Administration:
Provide guidance to students and leadership on all questions related to the student experience.

For students requiring additional support, provide guidance and direct them to the appropriate services such as the Student Affairs Office at the Faculty or other services offered at the University.

Prepare files to be presented to the Student Success Committee (Comité de la réussite étudiante). Monitor longitudinally the achievement of expected level of entrustable professional activities (EPAs or APC in French).

Academic Review & Planning:

Develop plans for students, in consultation with the PharmD program director, to enable them to improve their academic performance and reach the academic goals and promoting student advancement.

Monitors grade performance throughout the term, initiates proactive advising appointments with at-risk students, and supports remediation programming.


Acts as an expert advisor to the various Faculty stakeholders on all aspects of the student experience related to retention and academic success by conducting research and factor analysis, compiling statistics, writing reports and submitting recommendations for continuous improvement of the student experience.


Coordination:

Work in close collaboration with the PharmD program director, SPS manager, Faculty of Medicine wellness manager, Graduate Study manager, PharmD rotation coordinators and partner hospital coordinators regarding student's accommodations for rotations, exams, and completion of their mandatory rotations.

Ensure students complete all mandatory components of the 4 years program for graduation and Supports professors, course coordinators, and laboratory staff with the effective integration of student accommodation plans.

Provides guidance and advice regarding policies and procedures related to student absences and rescheduling processes. Schedules, coordinates, and actively contributes to Student Success meetings.

Strategic Planning:
Develops and implements strategies and programs that promote a high quality student experience and meet professional accreditations.

Develops and implements strategies and tools to facilitate integration into university life in order to increase the sense of belonging and academic success of undergraduate and graduate students.


Develops the planning and data collection tools needed to set up, analyze and evaluate retention projects and undergraduate and graduate study programs.


Support:

Advise, inform and educate students on all aspects of their academic path, career choices and university experience, identifying their needs and maximizing their academic success.

Evaluates the situation of at-risk students, identifies problems and meets with students to establish an action and follow-up plan, offering advice and coaching activities to maximize their success.


Identifies students with emotional, financial, legal, medical or other problems and refers them to the appropriate resources to support their academic success.


Student Engagement:
Liaises with student representatives for guidance and coordination of students-led activities, social events, lunch and learn
