TECHNICAL LEADHAND

10.1 Reports to Shift Supervisor

10.2 Duties and Responsibilities

10.2.1 Occupational Health and Safety
(a) Report all incidents, accidents and/or hazards.

(b) Participate and/or cooperate with the JHSC to improve safety.

(c) Wear personal protective equipment as required.

(d) Adhere to Lockout procedures.

(e) Perform housekeeping activities as required.

(f) Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the "Duties of Workers" as stated in Section 27 and 28.

(g) Comply with the Workplace Safety Insurance Act (WSI Act).

(h) Comply with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).

(i) Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures of The Vinyl Company.


10.2.2 Employee Relations
(a) Communicate with administrative, plant and supervisory staff as required.

(b) Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements.

(c) Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

(d) Comply with Rules of Personal Conduct.

(e) Provide and/or participate in training as required.

(f) Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Relations Manual and/or Employee Handbook.


10.2.3 Quality Assurance
(a) Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and/or tools immediately to your supervisor.

(b) Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to your supervisor as required.

(c) Comply with Quality Assurance policies and procedures.

(d) Participate and contribute to effective production efficiency.


10.2.4 Environmental Health and Safety
(a) Adhere to environmental policies and procedures.

(b) Comply with recycling program.

(c) Comply with disposal/waste management program.


10.3 Job Requirements

10.3.1 General
(a) A Technical Lead Hand must demonstrate competence in the appropriate job category Level A requirements (i.e. Shipper/Receiver, Extruder Operator, etc.) before being classified as a Technical Lead Hand.

(b) Must also perform setups when required, including die testing when required.

(c) Perform all other assigned duties as instructed by the supervisor.


10.3.2 Employee Relations
(a) Ensure staffing to meet production requirements.


10.3.3 Production Paperwork
(a) Complete and approve work/production orders.

(b) Complete and approve production schedule.

(c) Complete and approve production report.

(d) Complete and approve machine set-up sheets.


10.3.4 Technical Training
(a) Perform technical training of Extruder Operators.


10.3.5 Enforcement of Policies and Procedures
(a) Enforce and ensure Employee Relations policies and procedures.

(b) Enforce and ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures.

(c) Enforce and ensure Quality Assurance policies and procedures.

(d) Enforce and ensure production related policies and procedures.


10.4 Skills and Abilities
(a) Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.

(b) Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

(c) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilograms.

(d) Must demonstrate competence in the appropriate job category Level A requirements (i.e. Shipper/Receiver, Extruder Operator, etc.).

Dayshift - 8 am to 4 pm - $ 30.00/hour

Afternoon Shift - 4 pm to 12 am - $ 30.25/hour

Night shift - 12 am to 8 am - $ 30.50/hour

Minimum 5 + years experience
