Compensation Range

$5, $7,294.50 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

The Department of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a growing Department that provides the only provincial program for the education of entry-to-practice physical therapists.

Through rigorous scholarly activity, high standards of instruction and creative opportunities for learning, the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) program provides a strong foundation that supports the current and future practice of the profession.

The Department is also a research-intensive unit with award winning faculty conducting state-of-the art healthcare research. The UBC MPT program is one of the leading Physical Therapy Programs in Canada.


The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT) aims to further excellence in education and research while upholding a safe, inclusive, high-quality learning environment for students, staff and faculty.

The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program is the entry-level program for students to train to become occupational therapists. OSOT is an established research-led department, with many faculty working as leaders in their fields.


The MPT and MOT programs are fully-distributed and provide students the opportunity to study in state-of-the-art labs at UBC campuses in Vancouver, Surrey, and Prince George.

The program curriculum uses an integrated, case-based approach and is taught by the Departments' renowned academic faculty and a community of clinical educators.

The programs will move to their permanent Surrey location in fall of 2023.

Organizational Status


The position has a dual report to the Administration Managers in the Department of Physical Therapy and the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and works in collaboration with leadership in DPT and OSOT.

The role interacts with other managers, staff, students, and Faculty to implement and provide ongoing management to the MPT-FV and MOT-FV cohorts.

Work Performed


Site Management:

  • Responsible for managing the Departments' Fraser Valley Lark Building site and facilities through liaising with Digital Solutions (MedIT), UBC IT, UBC Building Ops, and staff and representatives from the City Centre development and the Lark Building.
  • Ensures facilities (educational, clinical, and research), meet the operational needs of the MPT and MOT programs as well the needs for their respective departments.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact at the Fraser Valley site. Ensures open communication for all faculty and staff within both the PT and OT programs in both a multicampus environment and a distributed education environment. Responsible for resolving, or appropriately redirecting, unique and complex issues that may arise from faculty, students, and staff.
  • Supervises the activities and attendance of site staff to ensure successful completion of tasks and adherence to the vision and direction of team functional managers.
  • Collaborates with functional managers across distributed sites to ensure effective and equivalent workload distribution amongst staff on various teams in order to achieve program goals.
  • Collaborates with Department leadership and team functional managers to develop effective communication and organizational strategies that foster strong relationships between staff at all sites.
