The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research

The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.

The Department of Family Medicine specializes in training comprehensive family physicians and future leaders in family medicine. This is done through a highly adaptable program that includes tailor-made curriculum and educational programs for residents.


The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) is an interdisciplinary team of investigators, research, and administrative staff recognized nationally and internationally as leaders in family medicine and primary health care research.

The CSFM's research is based on the principles of patient-centred care, and takes place in three contexts: clinical care; the community; and the health care system.


Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will support the activities of qualitative projects at CSFM. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment of study participants, the consent process, and booking interviews (mainly via Zoom).

The Research Assistant will be responsible for data input, management, processing, and analysis of qualitative data for studies, including our project titled 'Factors Influencing Family Physicians' Decision-Making Process to Practice Comprehensive Care '.

The Research Assistant may also assist with the preparation of any required documents as well as conducting literature reviews.


Education:

Honours BA/BSc in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or other degrees with a focus on health


Experience:

At least 1 year research experience in medical/health fields implementing research protocols and conducting qualitative studies

  • Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
  • Understanding of and proven experience supporting qualitative research
  • Experience with research ethics
  • Creative problemsolving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidentiality
and guidelines in conducting research- Excellent communication skills; professional manner, tact, and diplomacy

  • Advanced computer competency with knowledge and experience with following programs: N-VIVO; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), academic research databases (e.g. PubMed, Medline)
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
