Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in full cycle, preparation of tender submissions, preconstruction conceptual estimates and project schedules for review by the Project Manager
- Estimate preparation for costs of materials, labour, sub trades, equipment for construction projects (lump sum). Based on contract bids, quotes, drawings & specifications
- Work closely with Project Managers to create a bid strategy, techniques, etc.
- Provide training, mentorship and guidance to assigned personnel in the preparation, revision, and production of cost estimates. (if required)
- Review bid package blueprints and drawings
- Calculate quantity takeoff detailing all the materials and supplies necessary for the contract to achieve specification
- Review takeoffs checking for mathematical and technical accuracy
- Attend prebid meetings for clarification
- Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads and profit
- Revise bid packages and prepare addendums as needed
- Track actual costs against the estimate and identify possible improvements to processes.
- When contracts are won, roll job estimates into accounting system for future monitoring and storing costs to improve the accuracy of future pricing (historical data)
- Update work schedules on a weekly basis and develop/ produce monthly reporting.
- Interact with field personnel to assist in planning labour
- Consult and communicate internal department
- Perform other duties as required

- Mechanical related postsecondary Degree and/or Diploma and/or valid Journeyman/woman certifications
- 5 years of related work experience with a proven track record in the local marketplace
- Complete understanding of the CCA bidding process and familiarity with all CCA / ACA documentation.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical piping, HVAC, sprinkler systems and related equipment
