Finance Assistant Job Description
Shippam & Associates are looking for a finance assistant to support our financial department.
To be successful as a finance assistant, you should have strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organizational skills, and working knowledge of accounting software.
Ultimately, a top-notch finance assistant should have integrity, excellent mathematical skills, and an understanding of data privacy standards.The Finance Assistant is responsible for:
- Manage the monthly financial statement preparation and month end close process.
- Other financial reports and projects as required by the ownership team.
- Liaison with auditors to ensure annual reporting is carried out.
- Prepare and Conduct Biyearly Inventory count.
- File PST and GST return on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Reconcile GL accounts on a monthly basis.
Roles/Duties
Communicate with vendors and reconcile Accounts Payable on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Print & post purchases journal from our ERP system into Quick Books as part of month end procedure.
Print & Reconcile Visa statements on a monthly basis (post US exchange on Visa to jobs).
Reconcile Accounts Receivable on a monthly basis.
Communicate with Customers regarding overdue accounts.
Perform Bi-Annual Inventory Counts (mid-year & year-end).
Quarterly P & L Analysis for various departments within Shippam.
Prepare monthly/quarterly government remittances.

Assist in the preparation of the year end file.
Finance Assistant Requirements:
- Minor degree in accounting or finance.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and Quick Books software.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Detailoriented.
- Excellent time management skills.

$18.00-$25.00 per hour
