Job description


Scope of Position
The Project Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the delivery of materials and scheduling installers for client projects. This includes obtaining ground (LTL/FTL) transport estimates for drop shipments from suppliers to clients and managing a small warehouse.

The logistics function is an essential element to client satisfaction by ensuring that products and the people who install them arrive at the job site at the right time.

This is a dynamic position that requires accuracy, organization, and negotiation skills.

The Project Logistics Coordinator will team closely with people within Federal Steel Equipment as well as suppliers, installation crews, and clients to coordinate shipments and schedule work at the client job site.


Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Project Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for all shipping and receiving activities, controlling freight costs, and negotiating with carriers for local ground transport and some national shipments.

Federal Steel Equipment is a private firm with well-developed and extensive client and supplier relationships.


Functional Tasks

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Generate load estimates and contact transport suppliers for estimates
  • Negotiate transportation terms/contracts
  • Produce/update shipping documentation including bills of lading and packing slips
  • Coordinate delivery times with suppliers, project managers, installation crews, and clients
  • Confirm clientside receiving equipment and facilities and make appropriate arrangements
  • Process claims for damages, credits, and returns
  • Manage shipping/receiving, and inventory in a small warehouse
  • Improve the effectiveness of the team by identifying areas for improvement and working in a constructive manner with the team

Desired Experience and Education

  • Secondary School or greater
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Advanced knowledge of transport using drybox, flatbed, and tailgate trucks
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and legalities
  • Knowledge of industrial shelving, racking, and space management solutions is considered an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual (English and French), oral and written
  • Ability to drive a forklift would be an asset
  • Ability to read industrial drawings would be an asset
  • Knowledge of SAP Business One would be an asset
