The Finance and Treasury Board's Office of the Chief Information Officer Division has a career opportunity for a User Experience (UX) Analyst.


This is an opportunity to positively impact the lives of New Brunswickers by helping transform and modernize their experience accessing government services and information.

By joining our progressive and cross-disciplinary Digital Transformation Team, you will work on digital transformation projects in support of the Government of New Brunswick's Digital NB strategy, and have the opportunity to learn, grow, innovate, and create in a fast-paced agile environment.


What you will do

  • Collaborate within a crossdisciplinary team of designers, developers, analysts, strategists, and stakeholders to develop holistic views of product and service delivery
  • Design and facilitate codesign workshops with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct user research using qualitative and quantitative methods including interviews, surveys, needs assessments, data analysis and usability testing
  • Analyze user feedback to identify gaps, pain points and user needs and translate this research into actionable insights, user stories, business and functional requirements
  • Create personas, journey maps and service blueprints to inform the design of our products and services, ensuring they meet the needs of our users
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and make evidencebased recommendations for improving digital products and services
  • Communicate and promote human centered design and UX best practices throughout the organization through collaboration and the development and delivery of upskill training and workshops
  • Contribute to the design system and collaborate in the development of documentation, standards, and case studies
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction for the development of best practices around user experience design and human centered design in the design and development of digital products and services
  • Assist with QA and communicate issues to Senior Design and Development to ensure products and services are accessible and consistent across devices and platforms
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in UX research and analysis
  • Collaborate with federal, provincial, and territorial teams to align as appropriate and to share strategies and thought leadership

Essential qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of user experience design methodologies and tools
  • Excellent research, analysis, and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced and comfortable with public speaking, presenting and facilitation
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Applied Arts, Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience (or a related discipline).
  • With a minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in product or service design and delivery with a focus on human centered design, user experience design and implementation.

OR

  • A 2year college diploma in Applied Arts, Design, Web and Mobile Application Development (or a related discipline).
  • With a minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in product or service design and delivery with a focus on human centered design, user experience design and implementation.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability and ensure that preferred language for assessment is identified on your resume.

Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.


Asset qualifications

  • Professional certifications in User Experience (UX), Human Centered Design (HCD), User Centered Design (UCD), Design Thinking, User Experience Research, Innovation Design, or related training
  • Experience working within a crossdisciplinary team
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Experience with prototyping tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch or similar

Salary
Salary range is $61,204 to $85,514 annually ($2,354 to $3,289 bi-weekly). Pay Band 5, Management and Non-Union Pay Plan.
