Job Summary:

Responsible for the purchase of production materials, operating supplies, manufacturing equipment and services as well as issues related to the purchase such as duties, legal obligations, and import/export requirements.


Required Education and Experience:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma preferred in the following:
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Business Administration/ Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of direct technical and commercial purchasing experience, specializing in automotive manufacturing (purchasing planning and operations including sourcing, contract management, inventory management and supply chain operations)
  • Experience in ERP systems, and familiarity with CMS is an asset.
  • Holding CPP, CPIM, APIC, and/ or Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) SCMP designation is preferable.
  • Formal training in Continuous Improvement and lean management is preferable.
  • Experienced in negotiation strategies, analysis, and tactics.
  • Strong negotiation skills that align with company strategies, analysis, and tactics
  • Expert in verbal & written communication, presentation, analytical and problemsolving skills. Able to backup thoughts with solid logic and actions.
  • Resultsoriented, selfstarter, and able to handle multiple initiatives while meeting all key objectives and deadlines.
  • Proficient with analytical and presentation in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Exemplifiers comfort in both managerial and factory settings
  • Experienced in an effective system for communication, rapid containment, rootcause corrective action, and continuous improvement to prevent the recurrence of production, quality and system deficiencies for all internal manufacturing, administrative, and external supplier processes.
  • Experienced in best practices throughout the sourcing organization including analytical tools, negotiation preparation methodologies and sourcing execution practices, driving improvement in purchasing data management, spend analysis to better understand actual vs. forecast savings, supplier management/ scorecards performance reporting processes.

Essential Functions:


  • Develops and implement strategies that minimize shortage risks (primary/secondary suppliers, safety stocks, supplier capacities, cycle count programs, etc.
  • Oversees spending details with regular reporting to SCO Manager ensuring total costs are closely managed through reductions, stability in price agreements, and continuous improvements
  • Develops highly engaged supplier partners that provide a competitive advantage for the company. Segment suppliers as strategic, collaborative, and transactional, execute supply agreements that effectively address the company and supplier expectations and develop strategies and plans to drive improved value with suppliers in each segment
  • Proactively partners with internal and external category expert partners to identify, assess, develop business cases, prioritize, and execute cost savings initiatives that leverage product optimization, service/quality optimization, supplier optimization, process improvement, competitive bidding, "should cost" modelling, joint continuous improvement, supplier negotiations, etc.
  • Leverages market/ commodity insights, inflation mitigation techniques, escalation/deescalation agreements, etc. to forecast and secure market competitive pricing. Update raw materials pricing and standard costs systemically
