This position reports to the Vice President, Project Finance ("Project Finance"), Toronto.


Specifically, they will:

  • Primary responsibility for the credit underwriting and portfolio management of project finance transactions including:
  • Completing complex financial modeling for projects. Expert proficiency in spreadsheet modelling is essential
  • Ensuring that credit underwriting and portfolio management of the project finance portfolio are within risk management parameters of the Bank
  • Performing internal risk assessments and Bank return analyses for new and existing transactions
  • Assist the Vice-President in the execution and closing functions of project finance transactions including review and negotiation of credit agreements and other credit documentation
  • Participate in the structuring of financing across a spectrum of transaction types
  • Interface with external consultants throughout the transaction process including independent consulting engineers, resource consultants, legal counsel, and insurance advisors
  • Interact with internal business partners including investment banking, debt capital markets, infrastructure advisory, risk management solutions and credit risk management
  • Perform due diligence, including reviewing market studies, engineering reports, financial models, customer financial information, project contracts, and legal analyses
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives as required
  • Ensure compliance of all internal and external matters in accordance with banking regulations, Bank policy and best practices.

Competencies required:


  • Completion of an Undergraduate Degree or Graduate Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Accounting, or other relevant field.
  • Professional designation such as the CFA, CPA, etc. considered an asset
  • 2+ years of experience in Project Finance, Investment Banking, Infrastructure, Engineering/Development, Commercial/Corporate Lending, Capital Markets, or other relevant areas
  • Strong financial modeling skills using spreadsheet software such as Excel.
  • Ability to play a lead role in the deal process with limited oversight
  • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Able to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • English spoken and written
Clients are located throughout North America, so some limited travel will be required
