JOB:
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

LivinLocal Furnished Accommodations Inc. is Vancouver's latest and fastest growing corporate housing company. We are looking for an experienced, skilled maintenance technician to join our Team. We provide a competitive wage, growth opportunities and an extended health plan to our employees.


As maintenance technician you will report to the Facilities Manager and assist with the upkeep and maintenance of properties to ensure accommodations are consistently maintained to a superior standard in keeping with the LivinLocal brand.

You are responsible for routine repairs and will assist with the setup of new units.


Duties:

Duties comprise of both routine, one-off and seasonal tasks as noted below and as scheduled by the Facilities Manager.


[I] Overview:

a. Work with the Facilities Manager to complete tasks as assigned during the day.
b. Report on completed tasks via the scheduling software and complete field reports for work done.
c. Conduct inspection of premises and maintain both, written and electronic record of work completed.
d.

Report on any follow-up action required and ensure the same is scheduled in a timely manner to ensure the job is completed and the issue resolved.

e. Correspond with office members, residents and external vendors, when required, to follow up on repairs, quotes, etc.
f. Maintain an inventory of related supplies to ensure the maintenance 'tool kit' is always adequately stocked for field work.
g. Participate in the on-call program which is assigned on rotation and compensated separately*.


[II] New Unit Setup:

a. Deliver and assemble new furniture and equipment.
b. Wall mounting TVs and fishing cables through the wall to ensure a flawless install.
c. If required, perform cleaning activities such as dusting and mopping post-setup.


[III] Seasonal maintenance of units:

a


Cleaning:
Patios, Driveways and Garages.
b


Turning:
Hose bibs on/off and Gas fireplace pilots lights on/off.
c. Install portable air-conditioners.


[IV] Routine maintenance tasks will include:
a. Reset breakers in the event of a power failure.
b. Replace smoke detectors/batteries.
c. Replace washers and faucets.
d. Re-caulk and re-grout areas.
e. Detect faulty flappers, chains, fill valves and replace the same.
f. Auger toilets when required.
g. Troubleshoot cooling/heating systems, including replacement of filters or electrical baseboard heaters.
h. Detecting faulty light switches and outlets and replacing the same.
i. Installing and replacing light fixtures.

Troubleshooting:
Malfunctioning equipment/appliances, communication issues related to cable/internet/phone equipment.
k. Refinishing wood furniture should damages occur.


Requirements:


  • Must be eligible to work in Canada: permanent resident or citizen.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity. Ability to lift 40 lbs. when required.
  • Reliable with a keen eye for detail.
  • Adaptability and ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing timelines.
  • Will be required to travel to different locations throughout the Lower Mainland to attend to various maintenance issues arising in premises located in different buildings/locations. Some on-site office work related to report completion and meeting with direct report.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization skills.
  • Proven minimum 2 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Prior hospitality experience - worked in a hotel, building, lodge will be beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
  • Ability to work with different software systems - with training provided.

Salary:


Range :
$ 60 - $ 80 K p.a. commensurate with experience.

2 weeks vacation per annum.

Enrollment in company's extended group health plan after probation.

Milage paid at.61 km

*Participation in the Company's on-call program paid at $700.00 per week


Salary:

$60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
