Compensation Range

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science
- and technology-based companies. CDL operates within the framework of each host University - in 2021, with ten locations globally. The goal of CDL is to activate research and tech start-ups, from university labs to commercialization, funding, growth, jobs and positive societal impact. Start-ups are recruited as part of a global process, and CDL-Vancouver attracts ventures from many regions beyond BC. As such, this is a multi-faceted, complex international program, interfacing with multiple other universities and multiple funding, corporate and government agencies. It proactively connects and matches entrepreneurial technology ventures with investors, business expertise and milestone-based coaching and mentoring. The program's mentors are successful entrepreneurs with years of experience in building and scaling technology-oriented companies. In addition, the CDL coordinates business analysis support from UBC Sauder graduate and undergraduate students for the ventures enrolled in the CDL program.


CDL-Vancouver is located in Vancouver, BC at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia and is an independent arm of CDL headquartered at the University of Toronto.


The Venture Analyst is responsible for managing several elements of day-to-day CDL-Vancouver operations including venture recruiting, KPI reporting and supporting high-priority initiatives, including the administrative and operational delivery of CDL-Vancouver programming.

The Venture Analyst supports the full CDL-Vancouver operating cycle, which includes evaluating and recruiting early stage technology companies, developing the portfolio of companies relevant to each stream, and delivering programming to help accelerate their growth.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Associate Director (who oversees the day-to-day operations of CDL-Vancouver) and works with Recruitment Leads.

Work Performed


Venture Recruiting- Supports recruitment leadership in executing the strategy to identify, recruit and evaluate high-quality CDL-Vancouver applicants.- Identifies and creates catalogs of centers of innovation in Western Canadian and US universities, venture capital funds, incubators & accelerators and tech associations to build a strong pipeline of CDL-Vancouver applicants.- Supports development of outreach strategy for recruitment of CDL-Vancouver cohorts by- managing operational systems and communications. Analyzes recruiting systems and processes to create systems or plans/recommendations to yield better services for cohorts.

Supports, coordinates, and produces materials for key internal coordination meetings.- Develops audit process on recruiting to ensure quality of cohorts.


Account Management- Oversees budgets and works with Venture Managers on account management activities.- Utilizes project management systems and generates reports for senior management on regular basis.- Drives systems and works with Venture Managers to drive and increase in numbers (both participants and financially).


CDL Operations- Provides regular and ad hoc event planning support to the CDL-Vancouver Project Management Office.- Supports strategic process improvement initiatives.
