Global Furniture Group is looking for a
Production Manager to join our Foam division. This position works 100% on-site at our Steeles/Dufferin location and may require occasional Saturday availability.


Role Responsibilities:
1) Co-ordinate the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.

2) Conduct daily production meetings with Production Supervisors to ensure that daily production targets are achieved. To support this, the incumbent reviews scheduled production against actual production and oversees outstanding projects.

3) Prepare production data to assist management in analyzing production flow and capacity.

4) Review the feasibility of new or revised systems and procedures.

This is achieved through the analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives.

5) Provide results oriented leadership that drives continuous improvement by following and implementing LEAN Manufacturing.

6) Work with other team members to ensure that all quality standards are achieved.

7) Work with the Production Scheduler and with purchasing to develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products which support production targets.

8) Communicate and reinforce the adherence to safety programs.

In collaboration with the Production Supervisors, this role is accountable for working in accordance with the law to promote a safe work environment for all employees.

In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that suitable training, and the appropriate tools and equipment are available to employees enabling them to perform their work in a safe and efficient manner.

10) Participate in long-range plant expansions, conversion, and equipment planning.

11) Work with Production Supervisors and plant personnel to ensure that every employee is treated with respect.

This incumbent reinforces the company's progressive corrective action policy to correct behaviours that are unacceptable and harmful to employees and/or the organization.

12) Determine the appropriate staffing requirements consistent with Manufacturing's work load.

In addition, direct the selection and training of personnel and overseeing performance management and pay program administration for their subordinates.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • College diploma or University degree in business administration or engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Six sigma green belt an asset
  • Good communication skills (Written and Verbal)
  • Good leadership and decisionmaking skills
  • Sound time management skills and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good understanding of Talmolder's products an asset
  • Industry experience, especially dealing with chemicals, is an asset
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Computer literate
