Western Research, under the leadership of the Vice-President (Research), is responsible for
ensuring that Western has vibrant and growing interaction with various sources of research
funding and that the faculties have increasing funding for their research programs. It is also
responsible to ensure a healthy flow of technology resulting from Western research to the
commercial world thereby creating jobs, increasing economic development and the general
betterment of society.

Within this mission...
WORLDiscoveries is the Business Development arm of Western University, Robarts Research
Institute and the Lawson Health Research Institute. The business unit serves as the exclusive
advocate and agent for promising commercial and technology transfer opportunities derived
from London's extensive research portfolio.


Responsibilities:

WORLDiscoveries is seeking a motivated Project Management Intern.


Responsibilities may include:


  • Be an active and engaged member of the team to grow and improve educational programming initiatives and processes at WORLDiscoveries.
  • Drive and communicate process improvements and process changes.
  • Engage with current/future stakeholders, clients, and/or students to further the growth of the organization's innovation ecosystem.
  • Work within a team environment to define, drive and track high priority strategic initiatives.
  • Help build and develop proposals, plans and strategic roadmaps for new business interests.
  • Perform analysis of programming initiatives and marketing efforts.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing material (i.e., educational programming pamphlets and flyers, research commercialization and technology transfer processes flowchart, etc.).
  • Create or update databases (related to programming, marketing, business development, etc.)

Qualifications:


  • Student must be in good academic standing in their program.
  • Some experience in an office environment preferred.

Other Requirements:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fastpaced, teamoriented environment.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selfmotivated and selfdisciplined with a "cando" attitude.

Learning Opportunities:


  • Develop experience working on a wide variety of projects and campaigns surrounding research and technology commercialization processes, business development and innovation.
  • Gain exposure to a fastpaced, collaborative office environment.
  • Work sidebyside with business professionals in Western University's Technology Transfer Office.
