Through The Looking Glass
I have been on this planet for the past 70 odd years, and in all that time I have never seen the level of willful ignorance that I see these days.
Maybe it was always there but didn’t really have much of a megaphone before the advent of social media. Now it appears that everyone with a whacked-out take on reality is out there, all pissed off at the powers that be, all loaded up with information carefully gathered from other whack jobs, and spouting it ad nauseum to still other whack jobs who take it as the God’s honest truth. It’s truly a sickening display…and for what? The facts don’t change just because you disagree with them. Reality doesn’t change no matter how unreal your view of it is.
Over the past few years especially we have seen massive numbers of people become disciples of ignorance, and proud ones at that. They have somehow got it in their heads that the world needs to change, and that the only way to change it is to burn it down and start all over again.
The world has never really gotten anywhere with that approach. All it does is create dead bodies and more insanity.
The institutions that govern life here on earth are not going to change through any stupidly violent external forces. Things will only change when people start working on positive change from within those institutions. Hell, Jerry Ruben and Abby Hoffman knew that back in the 1960s.
The way we get to a saner place is simple. Acknowledge the insanity and then resolve to be your own dog. Form your opinions from facts not propaganda or bullshit. And be willing to do whatever it takes to really understand what’s going on, around you.
Knowledge is power. Find it and use it. Do whatever you have to do to stay grounded in reality and firmly on this side of the looking glass.
