The Musk Report

~The Musk Report- Serutinizing the Inserutable Just finished reading an article on Bloomberg about a Twitter conversation that Elon Musk was having with a couple of other big time active investors. Apparently they were criticizing large fund groups like BlackRock and Vanguard being too passive and that their policy of supporting more environmentally responsible investors encouraging environmental responsibility in return for financial support. They were also of the belief that these behemoths have amassed too much power and control over the markets. This struck me as kind of odd, because when Tesla was starting, they solicited funds from these very same behemoths. They also were trying to make the point that large investors were basically passive, while smaller investors and individuals were much more active and that there was an inherent risk in having too much passivity in any market at any time. What they conveniently failed to discuss was risk-benefit ratio that smaller active investors have to deal with, which is where the good old 80/20 rule comes into play, only this time it's about 95/5 against smaller active investors actually being able to sustain growth from active investing over a protracted period. At the end of the day, this was nothing more than three rich people talking about how not so rich people could become rich playing the market. Frankly it was kinda scary because you know that a lot of people, who don't have the market savvy are gonna start thinking they know more than they do and eventually lose their shirts.
