MY THANKGIVING

Judging from the number of cars that showed up in my neighbourhood yesterday, it’s obvious that a lot of people have their Thanksgiving get togethers on Sunday. This gives everyone a day (today) to recuperate from too much turkey or ham and too much pumpkin pie etc. 
I was thinking about what I have to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving and there is a hell of a lot.  According to people close to me, the infection I contracted came pretty close to snuffing me. so basically I’m just thankful for still being around. I’m thankful for all the amazing people I have met over the past couple of years. People who got me from laying flat all the to walking around more or less on my own.  I am thankful for the the rest of my clan, especially my wife Heather, who really took the ‘In sickness and in heath’ part of the wedding vows very seriously. I’m also thankful for all of you who are reading this, keeping track of my progress and sending me comments of encouragement. And finally, I am thankful for my brain that has surprised me with the amount of sheer determination it was capable of generating and passing on to my body. And  while I have boatload of stuff and people to be thankful for, I also have a few miles to go before I can write…Went for a ride up to the lake today.’ But I will get there, because unlike a year ago, I can now clearly see it happening.
