GREED

Greed is the fuel that most capitalist
economies. Greed is a core attribute
of the capitalist system. Because the
object of capitalism is to grow your
business to make as much profit as
possible and/or have people invest
in your business so they can make
more money too.

What we are seeing now, however,
is that greed has, for many business-
es, become an obsession.

One of the keys characteristics of
greed is the willingness to squeeze
both suppliers and employees, by
getting what you want out of them
for the least possible price.

And this is where it all falls apart.
And why you have so many people
working hard but living in poverty.

It really does beg the question of
why business owners need to be as
greedy as they are. In some instances
it's justifiable. But in others it's
really just about business owners
measuring their self worth by the
size of their personal fortunes or their
business profit.

This is a mindset that really needs
to change if the world is going to
keep itself from toppling from the
weight of too much greed at the top.

True and not limited to the society level, unfortunately. It seems that this mindset has penetrated other aspects of life, such as data science and analytics. The once curious analyst/scientist would explore the data and take some time to understand it. Now, it's all about doing a quick cleaning of it and shoving it to an AI model, so that he/she can go on to some other task. The quality of the insights doesn't matter for his/her that much. It's all about throughput, like in a factory, driven by that same mindset you described…
