Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry, sometimes called denture maintenance dentistry, refers to administering sedatives in the mouth during a routine dental procedure to help patients avoid any unpleasant feelings or thoughts relating to the process associated with pain. In the most basic sense, oral sedation dentistry involves the administration of oral sedatives through an intravenous route, usually to ease the anxiety associated with the dental procedure itself and minimize patients' fear related to the system. These sedatives can also be used to help patients undergoing dental procedures that are particularly painful and help patients who had had traumatic experiences before the dental practice began, such as a previous dental surgery.
