THE TALE OF THE TAIL
THAT WAGS THE DOG.

Like a lot of my Canuk compadres, and because so little
of any real consequence happens here in the Great White
North, we tend to get our kicks watching, mostly with
amazement, the antics of our neighbor to the south.

And you have to admit that even a casual glace at the
US these days will yield a heaping helping of weirdness.
The most recent weirdness being this whole deal
about abortion and the leaking of a Supreme Court
paper proposing that the 50 years old Roe v Wade
protections be overturned for no apparent reason
other than that the Supreme Court is now as political
and partisan as any other American institution.

On top of severely pissing off all but the most reac-
tionary of women in the country, three of the judges
who voted for overturning this law told Congress they
believed it was already ‘settled law’, which meant that
it was, as far as they were concerned, a non-issue.

And yet here they are, on the verge of overturning a
law that should have been left completely alone,
because the corruption in American politics has
reached right into the old hallowed halls of the
Supreme Court.

Besides being crazy, this opens the door for other
forms of discrimination, against the, among others,
the LGBTQ community and god knows who else.

Trouble is that we've got lunatics called conservatives
up here who are watching all this BS and taking notes.

As much as | would like to say | get it, | really don't.
Because | don't believe that a solid majority of
Americans really think like this.

It really is a classic case of the til wagging the dog.

If ever a country needed to simplify its political
processes and put the power back into the hands of
the majority, the good old USA would be it ins spades.

And something needs to happen soon, because a lot
of good folks are getting screwed over by a few of the
other kind.
