![A FEW WORDS
ABOUT RELIGION
| was thinking about religion today.
The belief in a higher power. A guiding
spirit that promises, in different ways,
depending on the kind of religion you're
talking about, to reward you,at the end
of this life with an outstanding afterlife.
That is, of course providing you play by
all the rules religion sets out for you.
And when you look at all the different
rules, and | have looked at quite a few,
you really can’t help but feel that the
game of religion is rigged against us.
How many of us can honestly say that
we are without what religions deem as
sin? | would venture a guess that it's in
the low single digits of all the billions of
people we have here on earth. | know
it's not me. Hell, I'm committing the sin
of blasphemy, simply by writing this.
But | have a better idea than religion.
How about we all just, in the immortal
words of one Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan;
‘Be excellent to each other’
That way you don't have to worry about
God or sinning, or whatever you have
come to believe might happen in the
afterlife, if indeed there is one. You can
just get on with this one and maybe
comes to realizesthat paradise might just
be nothing more than what you make it
in the here and now]

I feel about organized religion like I do about Organized Crime: When a crime is small (stealing a loaf of bread) meant to nourish and support one person or a family. one might forgive it. But when you make a business out of crime (or religion) somehow EVIL creeps in.
