WEDNESDAY
3 SPUDS on Netflix

My son Daniel recommended this series to me.
He's very big into fantasy stuff, and has never
really steered me wrong. Wednesday is no
exception.

This is a Tim Burton directed series about the
good old Addams family. There are a lot of great
people in it but the show really belongs to young
Jenna Ortega in the title role and the oldest child
of Morticia and Gomez Addams. (Cathryn Zeta
Jones and Luis Guzman). In this series she is sent
to a place called Nevermore Academy, which is
the family Alma Mater, and filled with kids with
some sort of magical or supernatural power.

Wednesday, of course, doesn’t fit in at all and
there are some mommy issues behind all that.

Not sure whether Mr Burton, who is very much
involved, as director on every episode of this
8 episode series, has in mind for this. But its
popularity would indicate to me that it could
easily spin into a multi-season winner for Netflix.

Wikipedia calle it “a coming-of-age supernatu-
ral comedy horror series”, which is a mouthful but
pretty accurate.

Wednesday is great entertainment that appeals
as much to adults as it does to kids. Not a lot of
that around these days.
