WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF CRAZY. I have been around a long time. More than 75 years. I have seen a lot of changes in the world. Some good, some bad. I have seen assholes and tyrants come and go. I have seen wondrous things being invented and even more wondrous things being suppressed. And the older I got, the more I came to see what really makes the world go round. It's not love or compassion or joy, although I really wish it could be any or all of those. No. I'm sad to report that the thing that makes the world go round is greed and the lust for power. Right now we are seeing this being played out in almost every aspect of life. Tyrants starting wars of conquest. Industries of all kinds promoting unbridled consumerism while they poison the atmosphere with their machinery and refuse to take any responsibility. Politicians who are for sale to the highest bidder. Religions that are filled with hypocrites. And now, the latest and greatest threat of all, who gets to control the AI market, when thousands of people who know about this stuff are all telling us that we simply aren't ready for the consequences of its deployment. And yet here we sit, with no say in any of this, distracted by the soap opera aspect of it all, and powerless to do anything to stop the onslaught of it all. All we can do is pray that somewhere along the time, some sanity comes into play. Because the phase “It's a crazy world.” is no longer a quaint euphemism. It's a real description.
