Winners & Losers In Love

How many times do | say it to you

Before it’s finally understood

How many ways will you keep runnin’ me round
Tradin’ bad love for good

How many highways rollin’ all alone

Searchin’ out a friendly smile

How far can one highway take me from you
Mile after desperate mile

How many empty nights

How many nightmare dreams

How far are you gonna let me fall
Now it’s all come apart at the seams
How many promises broken

As we play this crazy game

Winners and losers in love

You know it’s all the same

How many more ragin’ battles

Till somebody wins this war

How many times have we tried to remember
What the hell we're fightin’ for

How much reconciliation till we're
Reconciled to our fate

How many twists and turns in your mind
Don’t you see it’s all too late

How many empty nights

Screamin’ to the stars above

When can | start to rebuild my life

From the wreckage of this mangled love
How much longer do | have play
Against you in this crazy game

Winners and losers in love

You know it’s all the same... Me

My Love For Fridays Goes Back A Long Way

"Crimson flames tied through my ears · Rollin’ high and mighty traps · Pounced with fire on flaming roads · Using ideas as my maps · “We’ll meet on edges, soon,” said I · Proud ‘neath heated brow · Ah, but I was so much older then · I’m younger than that now ·                     ...

The Love of Something

10CC is the first band whose records I purchased back in the day when cassettes were the primary form of bootleg and they wrote what I still consider to be one of the finest love songs in "I'm not in Love" - because it continues to say something about love which any sentient bein ...

A Love Story (Love in the Age of Writing, Publishing and Grammarian Lust)

This won’t be sentimental as such. I’ve read enough sentiment to realize love stories are like love songs. They have a beginning and an end. Paul McCartney doesn’t like them to have an end, but he’s willing to admit his are “silly.” That’s probably why John Lennon said Paul “ ...

I Love Fridays. And What’s Not To Love

I have always loved Fridays. · Maybe it’s because I always believed in the 4-day work week. Or maybe it's just a pattern you drift into when you more or less have control of your work schedule. · When I worked in the agency business, the tribe of creative people I belonged to ...
