A Friday Post About Fridays

I have written fondly about Fridays on and off for a number of years. (some links to Friday Files past, down below) And with very good reasons.
In the ad agency business, where I spent 20 years, Fridays were the days when a bunch of us would regularly get together for an early movie or a long lunch to celebrate somebody’s birthday where everybody would chip in to pay for the birthday person’s grub.

Today, about 25 years later, a part of my Fridays are still spent doing what you are reading right now.
I have recently decided to lessen the frequency of my long format posts, to allow myself more time to focus on business, so naturally, if I went to, say, once a week or so, you can rest assured that day would be Friday.
This Friday
After I post this, I will figure out my schedule for next week, fill up the job jar, have a long overdue Skype chat with my friend Herb Bond who lives down close to ‘the other lake' Erie, have a brief discussion with a client and another brief discussion with a supplier who is waiting for me to have the brief discussion with the client.
I will also do something for my partner-in-crime, Charlene Norman, who always seems to be coming up with some incredible idea or other. She's really a piece of work.
Later on my wife and I will head to Niagara Falls, or ‘over the bridge’, as we call it, to achieve some very specific shopping objectives that can best be done there.
The big decision after that will be whether or not to declare pizza night, as this is also a big part of Fridays over the years.
Fridays are ‘big breakfast’ days, as you can see from the header image. It takes a lot of energy to get through a day when your real accomplishment level is relatively low.
My Tactical Advantages Of Posting On Fridays
1. Over the years I have noticed the numbers and engagement on the the posts I do on Fridays grow steadily throughout the weekend, which makes sense since people have more time to read them.
2. Posting on Fridays give you a whole week’s worth of information, insight, news, views, conversation and brain farts to twirl around in the hopper of your brain, giving you the optimal amount of choice of things to actually write about.
3. Posting on Fridays, for those who are either addicted to writing or professional writers, is a good way to cap the week with the sense that, hey, despite all the seemingly endless work bullshit I have to deal with, I actually got at least one thing done this week.
4. For me personally, this Friday brain dump is a great way to ease into the weekend with very little in the way of heavy intellectual agitation roiling around in there. This way I can focus on more important things like football, binge watching Longmire episodes on Netflix and all the other flotsam and jetsam of living, including what has turned out to be the endless task of accessorizing the house we have almost completely renovated.
TGIF
I know not everyone orders their universe in the same way that I do. We’re all snowflakes: all snow, but with a myriad of different designs.
And all any snowflake really has any credibility in writing about, in the personal vein, is their own design, the events that encompass the duration of their life and the way the winds of change bill blow them.
I hope the winds of change always blow you in a favourable direction. And I hope your Fridays, and all the other days too, are filled with challenge and conquest and more satisfaction than frustration.
