Counterfeit

Counterfeit

Another challenge from BrewNSpew from a while ago.  The event was to Write a story or poem of 5 Lines or Less using the word counterfeit.  Here is one by Eugenia

Dang counterfeit news

Is what’s been taught for naught

Just noodle the thought

The wicked have become insipid

The whoo’s vs who’s is not amused

Here is my story/poem, based on a movie which came out in 1936 and a book which was written in 1984

Counterfeit lady,

Ever so Shady

Filmed in the 30’s

Did not meet with success

Recreated in the 80's with much more finesse

Here is some background on my two references

The 1934 movie summary is as follows  Phyllis Fowler claims to be just a "simple little country girl" trying to get by in the wicked big-city, and she takes a big getting-by step when she pulls a scam that gains her a $17,000 diamond from an exclusive jewelry store. Soon, a private detective, who has a dupe gem matching the stolen one, the police, and two gangster buddies of the jeweler are all racing each other to get the diamond back from Phyllis. The country-girl provides them all with a wild chase. The movie starred Stars: Ralph Bellamy, Joan Perry

The book was written by Jude Deveraux and was part one of the James River Trilogy #1

The 1984 book summary is as follows  Nicole was a passionate French beauty, kidnapped by mistake and swept across turbulent seas...to be the bride of a stranger. In eighteenth-century Virginia, the lush lands embraced the rivers that bounded the great plantations. There Clayton awaited his English lady...but when he showered his bride with ardent kisses, the woman he found in his arms was Nicole Courtalain
