Fuck Petty Politics…We Have Much Bigger Fish To Fry

Everything Is Connected
To Everything Else.

We oh Have One World. Let's Maké'It Last.

Art By Luisa Azevedo .
<The political system in Canada is pretty much fucked. It actually has been for quite some time. It’s just that nobody in power really wanted to admit it.

The Conservatives are too draconian. The Liberals are too ineffective. The fact is that none of us will ever really be happy with whatever government our collective and regularly launched brain farts puts into power.

In Ontario more than a year ago now we switched from a Liberal government that was demonstrably corrupt and ineffective to a Conservative government that is demonstrably corrupt and ineffective.

And it’s quite likely that this will happen again on the federal level. And all the while nobody ever sits back and wonders if the whole thing is just bullshit.

And this isn’t just a Canadian thing. It’s happening in so called democracies everywhere.

And I get that. Taking apart a political system in a so called democracy is a tricky bit of business, and in today’s world, with so many boomers depending on free market capitalism for their to fund their retirements in Muskoka mansions, companies cannot afford to really do much in the way of changing their modus operandi for fear of their share price dropping.

And so they push ahead, terrified of the cost of energy conversion and responsible waste management. It’s a fuck of a lot cheaper just to buy the politicians you need to support the status quo.

And then we sit around and scratch our heads wondering how we ended up with guys like Doug Ford and Trump in power, pretending to give a shit about the people, but knowing that they don’t really have to because the people will never rise up against him with enough force to do any real damage, and they can earn their shekels by making sure that the industries that support they are allowed to keep on spewing toxins into the air and water with impunity and depleting al the natural resources they can.

This is all really wrong, but it is typical of how politics has changed and the kinds of people it is now attracting. The greedy, the self-centred, the narcissistic, the authoritarian, the easily bought.

We are, if you are to believe 99% of all the scientists who are thinking about this, approaching an apocalypse.I personally believe that it’s part the fault of all of us for being so fucking wasteful for so many centuries, part the fault of businesses for choosing progress at any cost for so many centuries, and part the fault of governments for allowing this all to happen for so many centuries.

The industrial revolution has left us in a very precarious situation. And the time we are living in right now is really the fork in the road.

Do we, and by we, collectively as a species, start to work together and go do the road that leads to getting a grip on all of this? Or do we just keep fucking up the planet to the point where hundreds of millions die and hundreds of millions more wish they were dead?

This is not about left or right. This is not about dollars and cents. This is not about vested interests and corruption in politics.

It is about the human race. One thing. One mob of people living in an environment that we are systematically destroying, through both greed and apathy.

You might see this as just a scary thought right now. But there are tens of millions of people all over the world who are dealing with this shit first hand, and if you don’t believe that this will have a ripple into your cozy.. little existence, the I submit you have had you head stuck up your ass for too long.

The world needs to change the way it operates. It needs to stop thinking in terms of other people as enemies but start thinking of them as allies. Allies that work together to keep this planet alive and kicking.

Because, I have looked around a lot and, have noticed that this planet is the only one we’ve got.

ONE WORLD. ONE RACE. HUMANS.

Good old fashioned overly complex reasoning is what got us into this mess in the first place Harvey. The solutions are not philosophical this time. They are concrete and absolute. Do or eventually we all die. Dead simple, pardon the pun.

There are three things to consider within the fundamentals of governance. Equal outcome, equal opportunity and the policy/law that governs the one you choose. Either of these carry with it a natural path for humanity to travel. Equal outcome is government mandated outcomes that forces folks through funnels to assure the outcome. Right now "I" don't know one person/group i sense would be good at being the head. Equal opportunity places the burden of success and outcome on the individual. Where you choose to place the burden of success determines whether self determination exists or a central policy group determines success for all. Each of these have their pros and cons. Our history says that equal outcome always turns into socialist marxist dictators. History also says that equal opportunity will always fall prey to this same end. The former typically doesn't last very long the latter has a life cycle of about 400 years. We do stand at a cross roads. I wonder, given histories examples, are we trading the fire we find ourselves for the pit of the volcano. Regardless of our thoughts, time will be the final arbiter.
