Ideas, interactions and connections are important

I thought about some questions about ideas and interactions, as I was reading the information that was posted on Facebook walls I have read recently. In any given day have you ever tracked the conversations you have had with others and tried to summarise them? Do you know what constitutes a good day of conversation? Try, over the next  few days to summarise the conversations you have with the people you interact with on a daily basis. As you read your summary ask yourself, do the conversations have  a positive focus or are the summaries of those conversations inconsequential or worse negative?

I read many years ago that the average teen interacted with the meaningful adults in their life for less than half an hour a week and that for the conversation was usually negative or prescriptive. I wonder if we were asked to summarise our interactions with people over a period of a week, would we find that our interactions were mostly superficial, or meaningful?

Do we need to have meaningful conversations to stay close and connected to other people? If a person starts to isolate themselves from others is that a warning sign for their friends? Please pay attention to how you interact with people and try tracking your conversations to see if you are bringing your positive attitude to others. 

Ideas, interactions and connections are important to us at any time of the year but as we move into the holiday season, they are more important to us and to others.
