Listen To The Anarchists….They Might Be Right

Well, it’s Friday. Time for another rant. This is what has been bugging me on a week that saw Donald Trump nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, while at the same time admitting that he paid off a porn star for her silence about an affair he had with her. These are strange days indeed.

By now, most of us have seen all of or parts of Michelle Wolf’s comments at the White House Press Corp Dinner.

Most of us have also seen Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah, Lewis Black and dozens of others celebrities and comedians relentlessly attacking the current US administration. We have also seen and heard about Steve Bannon’s plan to blow it all up and start over.

These are the most high profile ‘social anarchists’ that have sprung up as a result of the abject failure of the 2-party US political system.

This system has created two powerful parties that have become equally corrupt. Equally despised. And equally incapable of governing a country as complex as the US.

Within this corruption, greedy, soul-less corporations and their vested interests thrive. They buy the kind of influence that passes laws that make it easier for them to poison the environment, reduce their workforces through automation and avoid taxes, all in the name of keeping their shareholders happy,

American businesses are happy as pigs in shit to have a completely useless tool for a president. One who sucks up all the air, while the congress and senate, whom they own, go on about the business of turning the country into one of the most polluted and corrupt places on earth.

And don’t go thinking that Canada is immune. The Conservative party in the most populous province of the country has just chosen as their leader someone who is reading from the same playbook as the US President.

He talks endlessly about being a man of the people, and yet, whenever you hear anything about his policies, they sound every bit as draconian as his American hero.

He is also in the process of creating and being very up front about it, his own fake new articles, to counter what he says are the fake news articles written about him in the mainstream media.

Where the fuck have we heard that before?

What’s Really Wrong Here.

What’s really wrong are a bunch of things.

1. The population has been dazed and confused by too much information coming at them for too long, through too many media and from too many different points of view. This has turned them into idiots, even though, they aren’t really stupid, just confused as hell. So what happens is that they vote for the guy who shouts the loudest, make the most outrageous promises and tells them everything is gonna be just great when he rules the roost.

2. There is a chronic shortage of people willing to run for office who are motivated by the desire to do good in society. Anyone with the education and charisma to enter into the political realm finds out very quickly that political survival costs money and that money comes to you in exchange for your support. Your support of the party line, whatever that happens to be. And it’s always influenced by whatever the donors are looking to get for their donations.

3. Democracy is dead or in critical condition. There was a time when the will of the people actually carried some weight with governments. But the huge amounts of money available to politicians has corrupted that concept to the point where the peoples' voice no longer matters. Only what is good for the bottom lines of the most important industries that own the politicians.

4. One party is no longer the antidote for the other. Frankly, it doesn’t matter a bit whether the government is left or right wing. The mechanisms in place to be in the game require you to basically play the game in the same corrupt way and everybody else. Or face political death.

What Does This Say About The World?

Well, if you look some of at the countries that are in disarray these days, you can see that their style of democracy just doesn’t seem to be working either. But probably for different reasons.

So it very much looks like we are in the early stages of a huge shakeup and shift in the world order.

My friend and astute political observer,  Rod Mackin from the Left Coast, firmly believes that the axis of power is shifting away from America and Europe and rising in the east, centred mainly in China.

This, I believe, is why you have seen such an incredible shift in the political landscape between China, North Korea, and South Korea. These are becoming allied nations, with a great deal of power.

And this will spread because the United States is so saddled with debt that it can no longer afford to do whatever it would take to control that area, or pretty much anywhere else for that matter.

Support Your Local Anarchist

Anarchists, at their core, want to do away with the current uber-corrupt political system in North America. Ideally, they would like to replace it with one that very much sees itself as part of what the world really is becoming.

But right now, America (with seepage into Canada), has become extremely nationalist and isolationist, to the point where the bad decisions being made are going to start, if they have not already, causing real damage to their economy, over and above the damage

that a decaying infrastructure and loosening of environmental regulations are already causing.

What Do We Really Want?

I have no idea anymore. People are so confused that very little makes sense these days.

It makes no sense that someone everyone will freely admit is a chronic liar with real psychological issues still gets elected president of their country.

It makes no sense that someone with a pro-big business political agenda in a province that stands or falls based on the health and well being of small business will eventually get elected premier,

There is more stuff that doesn’t make any sense going on right now than there ever has in my lifetime.

There is a change, or at the very least, the need for a change to the way things get run, here and in probably most of the rest of the world.

Listen to the anarchists. They might be right.
