My Two Cents On The Upcoming Ontario Election

My Two Cents On The Upcoming Ontario Election

LAST TIME DOUG FORD WAS

IN OFFICE, HE VOTED TO:

1 CUT AFFORDABLE HOUSING

2 CUT TRANSIT SERVICES AND RAISE FARES
3 CUT HEALTH CARE SERVICES

4 CUT CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
5 SELL OFF PUBLIC SERVICES

6 CLOSE LIBRARIES

Source linked belowThis list -> will give you some idea of just what kind of politician Doug Ford actually is.

Lord knows you don’t get any sort of definite impression from listening to him speak. He tends to sound a lot like a minor league version of Trump. He doesn’t really seem to have a lot of knowledge to back up his rhetoric and also, like Trump, I kinda get the feeling that he’s faking it till he makes it. And he may actually never make it.

Honestly, if you look at what he is opposed to, you can get a pretty good impression of the kinds of things he will do if he is elected premier.

And while some of them may be necessary, I think it will be very difficult for any government he forms to maintain a decent level of humanity.

Conservatives, by and large, care more about the system than they do the people who are affected by the system.

And if you want to see how that’s working, just talk to almost anyone in America right now. The middle class is being destroyed. Tax breaks are a joke. Health care is a tragedy. Drug prices are insane. International diplomacy is virtually non-existent. The entire infrastructure is being allowed to crumble. And basic human decency is as low as political corruption is high.

This is what Conservatives do. And this is why they have had a hard time forming a government here pretty much since Bill Davis’ day.

Now this current Liberal government is nothing to write home about. Kathleen Wynne has made a lot of mistakes. But I sincerely believe that the people of Ontario can hold her to a positive mandate much more easily than they ever could with a novice and Trumpish conservative like Ford.

PS: I have lived in Ontario all my life. Despite its warts, it is one of the most best places in the world for anyone to live. I count my blessings every day. A big part of the reason Ontario is so great is that the people are a true world society. They are hard working, smart business people, but most importantly they are real card carrying human beings.

Lately there has been a huge shift to the right in politics around the world. And if you do even a little investigating you will find, that seldom, if ever does it work to the benefit of all the people.

Ontario's strength is that, despite trends to the contrary, it has always stayed either centre left or right. And that has been the basis of its strength and humanity. And l I personally believe is that it's a lot easier to fine tune what's basically working than it is to trash it all and take it out there into an uncaring place.

Sometimes it's hard to find your way back.

That's exactly it. The corrosion of special interests.

It seems crazy that the tactics of the dictatorship playbook are generating new levels of populism. One can only beat a drum saying "wake up" but it takes a longterm vision to create a new system of politics, a new system of health, a new system of education, a new system of media - and even if we reach that point of transformation, we have to figure out how to keep it from the corrosion of special interest, that has always shaped it for the few rather than the many. Sometimes the old system simply crumbles and in that schism we are helplessly doing our best to say "wake up" in the resulting tumult. Better days should not be a slogan but under this system that drives or informs all these modern day behaviors, it will always be. The wisdom will come from these horrid mistakes.
