Post Cards From Another Part Of My Brain
I have not been a photographer for as long as I have been a writer, but pretty damn close. I got into photography on the advice of a photographer friend name John Wild who actually found me my first SLR camera and coerced me into buying it on the promise that it would make me a better writer. I'm not certain about that. But it did make me a better art director for sure.My cameras, and there have been many, have been my constant companions. I don't pursue any themes these days or do much in the way of paid shooting. I mostly just stop and shoot whatever looks interesting to my photographer's eye.
Since December, my wife and I have been living in a beautiful city on the south shore of Lake Ontario called St Catharines. It's relatively small compared to Toronto where I came from, but it's quite beautiful and filled with really nice people who, insomuch as I have seen, take really good care of their homes.
St Catharines is very closely connected to Niagara Falls, Niagara On The Lake, Thorald and Fonthill, which are all places we go quite often, because they are so close.
The pace of life down here is much slower, and some of the people close to me have noticed that I have adapted to it quite nicely. Every day I try to take a rather substantial ride on my bike and explore a new area of the city. What follows are some of the things I have seen on those voyages.
Jim Murray is a communication strategist, writer, art director blogger and beBee brand ambassador for Canada. His partner, Charlene Norman is a business systems and operational analyst. Their collaboration is called Bullet Proof Consulting, headquartered in St Catharines, Ontario and designed to serve forward thinking businesses in the Niagara and Golden Horseshoe regions of Southern Ontario.
