Return to the Foothills of Himalayas

That is where my school friend Minni has her heart set on living one day.  She is still working in England with her own law practice.  When I looked up Dehadrun, I found Manali and I could well imagine over time, my friend Minni finally disappearing into some place like this. 

In learning about Evon Technologies, the place where these three happy wanderers all or at least some are applying their trade, I discovered the story of the company's founder.  He was featured in an online digital journal that is scaling in India called Your Story

I am not for one to read a story about a CEO that is another piece of content marketing in a world where exposure is critical, I am one for the human story that accompanies serendipity, that accidental discovery that becomes a gift that keeps on giving.  What gift is that?

HUMANITY

The moment I chanced upon them after Ranjeet connected to my profile, I read a post where he cc'd his two colleagues Rinki and Arminder.  The Dehradun tribe had arrived and instantaneously they without knowing it themselves, inspired me.

Why Evon Technologies then comes under my learning radar is for the simple fact that its CEO is a hometown boy - he set up an I.T. company in a place not known for technology startups.  As I discovered it is not a bad place to set up because like many places where IIT's have developed, India is not short of educational institutions for technologists and engineers. If anything it is a smart move for a startup to move to an area of India that becomes a closer hub for migration.  I suspect that this is what happened with Arminder, though I also note the shop in the picture above Shere e Punjab - so that tells me that this region of India has a significant existing Punjabi community as well.  Whatever his story, for me this was a discovery of the people of Dehadrun and a holiday destination called Manali. 

I awoke this morning clueless about any town near the foothills of the Himalayas other than Shimla, which I think many people who visit Northern India would probably heard of.  The great thing about life today is that the world is collectively networked in a way where within a hour we can get to know so much about whatever perks our interest or even our heart, and now I have Google-mapped the geography I have a firm understanding where Dehadrun is and that completes another hour of really interesting learning in my virtual travels here at beBee.
