Sir, I'm No Enrique Iglesias

Sir, I'm No Enrique Iglesias

Sir, I ain't Enrique Iglesias
One of my favourite debate moments from the world where everything political is naturally American was the line that started with "Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine"

So it is that I don't know Enrique Iglesias and I am no Enrique Iglesias.  Why this fact matters is very important not only in terms of understanding the state of our own humility, but also in the scope of how we view ourselves as a learner - it is understanding this word about our scale :

FOOTPRINT

Of course Enrique's footprint in this regard is huge and so I am not caught up in the measurement of size or whatever influence metric that may or may not disturb us.  I know who I am even if I still don't know what I want and because I don't know what I want, I consider that a really good thing.  For most of my life when I did know what I want, I ended up getting it and even if life may today be as good as it gets, I am not interested in this moment about more stuff or becoming a priest for the religion that the world calls success.

I don't have to manage the footprint that Enrique has to manage, in 20 minutes, I get into a car and I drive to that college toastmasters club.  Maybe the students have been following what I write or think here, maybe they don't, whatever is their footprint choice is their individual choice.  All I can say that there is one thing that I do share with Enrique Iglesias and that just like his songs, they are a not about the group but the people he cares most for - and I am no different in that regard - it is just that his footprint is all about how others identify with his songs, while my footprint is to put out my thoughts here and hope that tomorrow it triggers in me a most important question :

WHY DID I WRITE THAT?

Before I ponder that question, time for me to shut off my computer and get to my college . . .

Dear William, there are always subconscious wants because self-preservation is built into our autonomic system. When it comes to conscious wants, there is a moment in life when we are neither in survive mode or in strive mode - then there is a gap we enter to where we genuinely do not know what we want - and that moment may or may not come again. So here I am conscious of that not as opportunity but as a moment. When that moment transforms to be viewed as an opportunity again, the conscious "want" returns and hopefully I strive to thrive then.
