I am one of those few North Americans who can easily express feelings of love. Being openly affectionate is more fashionable now than it was when I was growing up, but  I think there are still plenty of people who are uncomfortable with physical affection and demonstrating loving behaviour. I am very affectionate by nature and very generously express my warm feelings toward others. I didn’t grow up in a particularly affectionate home, but as I grew older, I became more comfortable with all forms of affection. I thrive on it, now. Well, actually, all humans need love and affection to thrive. They just don’t all know how much they need it and how love's energy can actually empower you and accelerate your ambitions.

One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.
- Paulo Coelho

Love is nothing more than vibrational energy, and it is the highest form of such. There is no right, wrong, good or bad in love. We humans attach rules and values to it. We try to quantify, qualify and categorize it. We make it taboo in certain circumstances, we make it sexual and we make it much more complicated than it really is. The truth is, that love exists independently of the complications we impose upon it. Love simply is. All of those human attempts to limit the nature of love creates resistance to its power. If you let go of your resistance to the energy of love and allow it to just be in your life and in your heart, then you can harness this powerful force and accomplish great things.

Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. Same world.
- Wayne Dyer

Our view of the world and the people in it is completely dependent upon what is inside us. We can all choose to be more loving and it is much easier to do that if we remove our human notions about what love means. Love is a big word, but only because of the power that love actually has. Many people mistakenly believe that love is a big word because it is meant to be reserved for certain situations. Since love is the highest form of vibrational energy, it cannot be bound by conditions and it cannot be quantified. It is infinite. The human attempt to do so creates resistance to the law of attraction and in creating resistance you impede your ability to be successful. In the absence of resistance, anything is possible, so why would you want to deny yourself the benefit of the highest form of vibrational energy?

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
Mother Teresa

There are many things you can do to become a more loving person and raise your love vibrational energy. Here are a few suggestions. Try doing a few of these every day and see what changes occur in your world.

Focus on feelings of love. The very instant you wake up in the morning, try to remember to conjure up feelings of love and light. It may be helpful to think about the love you feel for another person or even a pet. Where does love live in your mind? The stronger the feeling you can bring up the better. Return to that feeling throughout the day as required. From time to time people may try to get on your cloud and dirty it up. Don’t let them!

Avoid drama. Some people thrive on drama and getting people all riled up. Whenever someone appears to be stirring the pot, get away from the kitchen! Don’t participate in arguments or in any communication that will disturb your emotional peace.

Spend time with loving people. Loving people make others feel happy and loved. The more time you spend around their positive energy, the more of it you will absorb into your own personality. The converse is also true, so choose your friends wisely.

Smile. Whether you are smiling at others or no one at all, it helps you feel good. It is easier to access the love vibration when you are already feeling good. I have been told that I laugh at my own jokes way too often (because they are not funny, apparently). I don’t worry about it. I’m happy and laughing, anyway!

Offer kindness. Pay a sincere compliment. Saying nice things to another person makes two people feel good. Doing something nice is also good. Helping a neighbour, friend, relative or stranger with no expectation of anything in return will raise your sense of self-worth and gives you more love to draw upon later. With love, the more you give, the more you have to give. It is like a vessel that replenishes itself ten-fold whenever you draw from it.

Be affectionate. Kiss, hug, and touch others whenever you can do so without invading someone’s space. The benefits to your physical and mental health are enormous. Have you ever been lost in a kiss with someone you love or just hugged someone because they were there? It’s wonderful!

Say, I love you! Never be afraid to say you love someone, even if they don’t recognize the value of your love. It is only your attachment to the meaning of the word that perverts the interpretation of the nature of love. Remember, love simply is. You don’t need to categorize it, judge it or justify it. If you feel it, just say it.

Love yourself unconditionally. We humans spend our lives accumulating baggage and condemning ourselves for making mistakes. Stop doing that. Consider that we are all on a journey. We will do regrettable things, but that is how we learn who we really want to be. We will also do good things for which we can feel proud. Forgive yourself and focus on the good that is inside you. If you can love and forgive yourself, you will have more love to give to others. The more love you give, the more you will have available to give. In essence, you will get better and better in every possible way.

Have a loving day!

What a wonderful article, thank you for taking the time to write it and express your view on a topic that I often believe is really misunderstood. I think that loving yourself can often be the hardest thing to do and yet, it really should be the easiest. We are are to hard on ourselves, we need to give ourselves a break.

I love this post, Renee! You offer sage advice which would make the world a better place if universally adopted. I don't recall the song or singer but there's a lyric that came to mind while reading this, "Love is the drug I'm thinking of..." Please have a blessed holiday season and keep buzzing!
