The Boomer Goes To Hell & Back
The Boomer, like just about everybody else these days, is subject to the odd fit of insanity. And who can blame us, because our brains have been, especially over the past year, totally overloaded with crap.
There are all kinds of crap that can invade your head if you let it. All you have to do is let down your guard for even just a moment, in pursuit of knowledge or insight or anything remotely resembling the truth and it will get you.
The Big Turd In The Sky
It’s where all the shit is stored. Sometimes the shit looks so much like the truth that you dive in never bothering to think too much about it. Never bothering to weigh other points of view or even do any due diligence.
That’s how tempting the shit is. Because the people who make the shit and slap it onto the Big Turd In The Sky (BTITS) are so fucking good at what they do, they can hoodwink even the smartest, most savvy, most been-there-done-that people on the planet.
They can make the BTITS look like anything you want it to. They can make it look gold-plated or overflowing with the milk of human kindness.
But it’s all bullshit. And because it reaches out to and connects with almost everyone, it has created a whole new class of people. These people used to be the ones who sat there and took it all in, afraid to comment or let anyone know what they were thinking, afraid that they would get called out or put down or shamed or otherwise abused because whatever they had to say was ignorant, uninformed crap.
But the BTITS embraced them. Told them it’s OK to be full of shit, sexist, racist, bigoted. It’s OK to be far right of Attila The Hun. It’s OK to lie about people and slander them for no good reason. It’s OK to threaten and bully and abuse. It’s OK to be a total dickhead because the BTITS is a place they can call home.
It’s A Mistake To Look Too Closely
The BTITS is not really a place that’s fit for human habitation. The water is filthy, the air is poisonous to breathe, and everybody is carrying a loaded weapon and would just as soon kill you just to watch you die as look at you.
The Boomer found out that, in no uncertain terms, this is a place where you can flaunt your Liberal sentimentality. This is a place that very much appears to be on a mission to bring on Armageddon. And anybody who leans to the left of the aforementioned Hun is nothing but splatter in the explosion that is to come.
The Boomer roamed around in there for a few months, using Donald Trump as his target. He chose Trump because going after him is like shooting fish in a barrel and, as he later found out, a very effective choice.
What he also found out there was that there were way more fucked up souls living on the BTITS than he had ever imagined. They are evil and nasty. Their minds are bent in the strangest of ways, and their belief in the chaos they are trying to create in the world is absolute and unflappable.
It was like a version of the Dark Web. The Boomer was sure he could have found someone to kill him there if he had wanted to die that way. He knows he could have found dozens of people who would be capable of atrocities that you could not imagine. And they would do it all in the belief that they were making the world a better place by diminishing the amount of goodness that exists there.
These people are not hard to find. They’re all over the place on social media, waiting to jump on anything remotely resembling a progressive thought.
These are the people who, up until the creation of BTITS, were nothing but flotsam and jetsam floating in the ether, lurkers and re-posters and private chat room addicts.
But now they have been set free. They have a leader and an idol and a hero, who, as you might have guessed, is more flawed than all of them put together.
But this is how both heroes and anti-heroes are born.
Does This Mean The End of Life As We Know It?
This is what the Boomer ventured forth to find out. And he is happy to report that no, this is no threat to humanity. At best it is a red flag that says “Keep Your Eyes On Your Fries”.
The thing that you have to remember and never forget is that these people and their fearless leaders, wherever they may be found, are merely freaks of nature. The world is too complex for any of them to even begin to figure out how to run it. They don’t have the intellect or the intelligence or the sanity.
And the big picture lesson we can all learn from this is exactly what the Boomer learned and that is that the world only works when people cooperate with each other. When people embrace their own humanity and all the work we are doing here is being done for the greater good.
The BTITS will always be around in one form or another. And maybe that’s a good thing because it will help us all keep our priorities straight.
Hate is not a strategy. Power for the sake of power is an empty quest.
No one power rules the earth and no one power should. Tyrants and their demented minions come and go, mostly go. The destruction they cause is part of the price we pay for whatever freedom we have and the idea is to keep it to a minimum.
The world has always been better than the biggest of the small minded. Right now we are seeing a bit of a flare up, especially in the United States.
But this will pass and the lessons that country learns will either move them forward or set them back. But no matter what, things will go on, said the Boomer, in a cautiously optimistic voice.
