The Last Friday Nite Sermon In This Format

BT

Fridey Nite

(J) mtile)el
20sOver the past 20 years, I have written well in excess of 1000 long format posts.

I have enjoyed the process immensely. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. And this good thing is…sort of.

There are a couple of reasons for that.

1. I have been living in my new home and new city for a year and a half now and working with my partner, Charlene Norman, to break into this market in a substantial way with our consulting business. It has been a lot of work, but we are starting to feel we are on the home stretch run. And so the more time I devote to making that work, the better it will be for both of us.

2. I sincerely believe many people have grown weary of longer format posts. It’s a lot of work sorting out the wheat from the chaff, and it’s time-consuming absorbing information in big chunks. Couple that with the diminished attention spans which are a fact of life in social media and I find that the audience for these kinds of op/ed style posts is shrinking.

So being a smart and savvy marketer, I have decided on a new direction. One which takes less time out of my day, and provides those who are interested with a quicker read.

I’m Not Sure What These Are Called,
So I Have Named Them Meme-itorials

The Meme-itorial is basically a mini post inside a graphic housing. The beauty of them is that I can create different versions of these posts and use whichever one fits the content I am writing.

This does have the downside of taking me out of the blogosphere so to speak, which means, on beBee for example, these are only viewable by those who are following me. So I encourage you to to do that, (links at the bottom)

The upsides, which far outweigh any negatives, are:

1. I get time back to write business posts and our extremely well-read Bullet Proof POV newsletter, plus all the other communications we have to do to grow our business.

2. Readers can get a quick fix instead of a long read, which is good for the soul these days.

3. It forces me into a much more disciplined way of writing, which is something I have always felt I needed.

So there you have it. What follows are samples of my different Meme-itorials, Currently, there are 4.

1. The Political Meme-itorial, featuring my Ace Reporter, Antoine.

Poor Baby Donnie
I used to think that Donald Trump was a fascist, until I
watched him in action for a while and realized that he
wouldn't know fascism if it came up and bit him on the
ass. No...he’s just a mean spiritied bully.

I used to think Donald Trump was a real life Tony
Soprano, overseeing a family crime empire. But then I
watched him in action for a while and realized his lead-
ership skills were virtually non-existent, and that all
his decisions were made out of spite and hubris.

T used to think that Donald Trump was a typical
American businessman. But as I watched him I realized
that he was nothing but another entitled asshole, who
gained all his wealth from his father and managed to
blow most of it on products that nobody really wanted
to buy, because he was only interested in the form and
not the substance.

And today, Trump added a new descriptor to his
already lengthy list, which includes, racist, sexist,
Islamaphobe, narcissist, and egomaniac.

Today he added ‘weenie’ to the list, by announcing
that he was going to start pulling the White House press
credentials of reporters who say bad things about him.

Poor baby Donnie.

His problem is really simple. All he has to do is quit
acting like a total buttwipe and
maybe these reporters will start
to give him some credit.

PS: Don't include me in that
group...I'm anti- Trump

till Mueller puts him
away.

2. The Couch Potato Chronicles Revival Meme-itorial, which will mainly be reviews of the things I like (movies, TV, books, sports etc)

Some Of The Best Stuff I've Seen On TV Lately

1. Collateral: Great British 4-parter on Netflix.
Starts with a murder and goes straight up from
there. Very powerful.

2. Altered Carbon: Maybe the best Sci-Fi series
yet. Strange world. Even stranger people. (Netflix
again)

3. Godless: Fabulous western One-season series about how bad

asses were dealt with in the old west. (Netflix again)

4.The Good Fight: Continuation of The Good Wife, whis if you

haven't see it is also great. This one follows lawyer Diane Lockhart

as she pushes forward, this time in an African American firm. Most

notable for its direct attacks on el Drumpho. (W)

5. Lost In Space: Surpisingly exciting and much more sophis-

ticated than the Original 80s series. (Netflix)

6. For The People: Exceptionally well writen and performed

drama about young public defenders and US attornies in the Big

Apple. (ABC)

7. Chicago Fire/Chicago PD. Both outstanding series by Dick

Wolf, who continues to make zillions from the Law & Order fran-

chise. (NBC)

8. The Blacklist: James Spader creates one the best best good

bad guys ever on TV. Incredible plotting and storytelling. (CBS).

9. Blue Bloods: Excellent cop series all about a New York Irish

American cop family. (CBS)

10. Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon: Amazing

comedy from the brain of Chuck Lorre (and

a bunch of others). Best comedies on network 0 CHRoy,

TV by a country mile. (CBS) L

3. My Rant Meme-itorial, which will be part Friday Nite Sermon and part whatever else is pissing me off, at other times during the week.

It's Time To Lose 300 Lbs of Ugly Fat

Every day | watch the news. Not CNN or the other mainline media
networks but BBC and PBS. And though the stories are told in a
much less salacious way, they are still about the same stuff. A lot
of it is about how disgusting the Trump government is.

I don’t live in the US, so | can only imagine how the majority of
the population feels about this situation: About America’s steady
loss of respect around the world; about having to apologize for
their president, which many of them do spontaneously, to foreign
visitors; and about feeling like they are trapped in a bad dream,
unable to wake up and blink it all away.

This government is killing your country’s soul and spirit. | just pray
that you can figure out a way to get them back when this is all
over.

And it can be all over by the end of this year if you all get out and
do the right thing. There are way more good people in America

than there are morons, fools, idiots, nutbars, redneck assholes and
racist pigs.

But you guys need to mobilize and get your act together. Take your
country back. Get rid of the cancer that is sapping the life out of it.
You're fuckin’ Americans...you can do it!

The Moron in the White House can’t make your country great
again. Because your counrty doesn’t need to

be ‘made’ great. It just need to get the

greatness it already has back again.

4. My Short and Sweet Meme-itorial, which is more a typical meme with an editorial slant.

“If it’s true that all the world’s
a stage, like Shakespeare said,
then there is a hell of a lot of
bad comedy being performed
on it these days.”

These may change over time, but this is the current lineup. In order to get them, other than through seeing them as forwarded from someone, you have to follow me, on beBee, LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter or all of them if you’re a real glutton for punishment. LOL.

It’s been a genuine been a blast writing these longer format posts. But for me, this particular medium has outlived its usefulness. My solution still keeps me writing, only not as much on the social side, so I can do more on the business side.

PS: For those who care, my bud, Phil Friedman and I will still be doing our He Said He Said posts. But Phil is busy as well so they will be less frequent.

Thanks Milos Djukic. That was re-assuring coming from you. I stepped into this with a little trepidation. But basically eliminating co-optable text is a way to protect it, for the people you are talking about. My reach won't be as extensive, but I have always been a quality over quantity guy myself.

Wise move Jim Murray. It is not only about writing, it is even more about interacting and discussing. The short-form post is a future of social media. Content marketing program, algorithmic content management and manipulation with exposure have finally killed writers in most social media, as well as influencer marketing program and sponsored content. There is no business like social media business. And yes we have to take care about our business and not about their business. They have powerful tools for manipulation and influence.

Thanks Lisa Vanderburg. Sorry if I didn't respond. I really don't spend much time here on beBee at all. I'm mostly on LinkedIn and Facebook. I only use beBee to post longer format stuff in their publisher, because it's a way to draw traffic to beBee. I will post all the memes here, but they won;'t have the reach that the longer format posts did. Truth be told, I am enjoying the writing I do for my consultancy and the meme quite a bit.

My arrangement with Charlene is an assocation of her company and mine. Onwords & Upwords is my registered corporation and the company I bill under. Once we get the business cranked up we will register Bullet Proof Consulting. What form that will take is TBD.

I've read you since I joined beBee Jim Murray. I know your consideration of me is lesser than mine of you; you've never responded to my comments, and I don't need that. You are a superb writer than brings a thought-not-had into my world. IMHO, even in short-post, you will carry the essential weight of who you are. I wish you joy in your journeey!

Some of the Meme-itorials mention Onwords and Upwards. Are you focusing on Bulletproof or are you also jointly focused on http://onandup.ca/contact/ ?

Jim, As I've said before I like the mini format. The difficulty for me is that if I tried it I would be forced to recall a line from Mark Twain, "If I had more time I could have written a shorter letter." Keep on keepin' on in the search for consulting business. At the front end it is always a ton of networking, data -mining and presenting to find one small diamond in the rough. And so it goes.
