The Secret To Just About Everything In Life

The Secret To Just About Everything In Life

Th gg Ets

; \
\A lot of people will tell you that life is complex. Most of them tell you that because they’re trying to sell something to help you simplify things.
But the fact is that life is only as complex as you want it to be. The more complex you make it for yourself, the more susceptible you are to becoming fucked up in some way.
Oh sure, you can get fucked up by a disease or an accident. But I’m talking about about fucked up in your head by filling it with too much crap.
It’s an easy thing to do this crap-in-your-head stuff, because there is a lot of crap out there floating around. The trouble is that many people have just never taken the time to sort through and recognize it for what it is then push it aside.
They take it all in. Crap from the left. Crap from the right. Crap from people selling crap. Crap from people who want to unload their crap on them. Crap that just kinds drifts their way though the ether.
So it’s no wonder that there are so many people who need, and I mean really need, or their heads will explode need, to be in therapy.
Here’s A Personal Example

When I was younger I had what appeared to be 'anger issues', and because I am a mildly assertive individual and didn’t want to be inflicting emotional pain on people, I decided (with the wholehearted encouragement of my wife) to go to a psychiatrist to talk about my ‘anger issues’.
I sat there for an hour and answered the shrink’s questions and told him my life story, trying hard to be as helpful as I could.
At the end of the session I asked him if I should book another appointment. He just looked at me strangely and said…I don’t think so. I asked why not. He replied. "You are probably the most normal person I have seen in years. You might want to consider going to see a neurologist because I think, from watching and listening to you, that you may have an un-diagnosed nervous condition."
So I went to see a neurologist. Actually three different neurologists. The last one told me I had a mild form of Tourette’s Syndrome knows as Tic Syndrome and that what appeared to be anger issues were really just the manifestation of frustration at not knowing what was 'really' wrong.
Once my doctor, Earl The Pearl, knew that, he was able to prescribe medication and my 'anger issues’ disappeared.
The moral of this story is that things are not always as complex as they seem, and if you just take the time to investigate any situation you will probably find that the answers are pretty simple and things are rather easy to resolve.

Complexity Is Tedious

Because I make a conscious effort to poke at things, I get a lot of comments on the articles that I write. And one of the things I have noticed is that some of the people who comment have very complex views of the world. Their comments feel more like rants than anything else. Or like they are,  to paraphrase the great Canadian humourist Stephen Leacock. "Wildly riding off in all directions."
Now I’m happy to be a ventilation chamber for this sort of thing. In fact I wouldn't have it any other way. But I honestly wish some of these people would really just take a little more time to think through what they want to say and make their point in a much simpler way.
You see this on news networks like CNN all the time with these partisan political analysts. A lot of times these people get caught in between toeing the party line and actually answering the question they are asked. What they don’t realize is that while they are busy trying to touch several bases, they never really manage to make a single strong point.
And as a viewer who also heard the question, you cannot help shake your head and start thinking that person is full of shit.

Being Full Of Shit Has Become Way Too Common These Days

People, especially on social media, seem to be obsessed with talking without listening.
The simple truth is that they are making their own lives more complicated than they need to be, because they just have gotten out of the habit of thinking things through before they commit to saying their piece or they never really bothered to develop any critical thinking capability at all.
And that’s it. The secret to just about everything.

In a world where the majority of people shoot first and ask questions later, just ask questions first, listen to the answers and then shoot.
Me

I guarantee you your aim will be truer. And you can apply this anywhere. To work situations. To creative situations. To any important decisions you need to make in life. Even to something as simple as shopping.
In the United States right now, the person running the country is a moron, and he got elected because people just bought the bullshit he was spewing, instead of sitting down and thinking about it a bit.

Jim Murray ts what is commonly
known as a shit disturber
He works hard to make sure he 1s always
expresaing his point of view hone:
There's nothing beige or vanilla go
And he does ich care if hy

does not align with yours.
I sincerely believe that if people had just objectively processed the absurdity of what they were hearing instead of allowing themselves to be mesmerized by the bullshit being presented, this moron would be back to hosting a sadistic reality show.
Yeah I know it’s more complex than that. No cure for stupidity etc. But a lot of the people who voted for him aren't stupid. They just weren't listening critically.
There’s usually a simple truth or a big fat lie behind everything. And all it takes to figure out what is what is a little objective critical thought.
If you want to learn something that will really make your life a lot easier to deal with, learning to think critically and act according to what you learn from that is it.
jim out. Happy Easter/Passover/Sunday.

Jim, one of the reasons I like your posts is that they are easy to read. You write about everything in a simple way. I like keep things simple, because to understand complicated things we need to reduce them to their simple parts, just like in maths. But many people go in the opposite direction, making the simple complicated. I also noticed it on beBee and other social media, both in posts and comments. While reading such stuff I feel tired trying to capture the essence of a text or a comment. I also wish "some of these people would really just take a little more time to think through what they want to say and make their point in a much simpler way." I like the moral of the story about your „anger issues“ :-)

Too many 'experts', too much political correctness, too much news media, too much social media = multifactorial confusion with diminishing meaning and purpose. The solution? Do what Tolstoy did: Remove yourself from the bullshit (i.e. shut it out) and re-join authentic reality involved with purposeful busyness. And in the process, perhaps contribute a little value to the environment.
